What is Russia?: What is Russia? Russia occupies 13% of the world’s territory and has less than 3% of the world’s population, but 34% of gas and some 13% of the prospected oil reserves.
Russia’s energy complex is an inalienable part of the global energy market. Russia leads the world in international gas trade and is the second biggest oil and petrochemicals exporter.
From 2002 to 2004, it posted the world’s highest growth rate for major oil producing countries.
Only this… Or Russia is something else? Andrey Ozharovskiy, Ecodefense!
Berlin, October 17th, 2006.
What is Russia?: What is Russia? Do we need Russia to be a world’s reservoir of oil and natural gas?

G8 and Energy Security Role of Russia –: G8 and Energy Security Role of Russia – Its role of a reliable energy supplier has been reinforced by the efforts to diversify oil export routes. The Russian government has made a decision on building an East Siberia – Pacific oil pipeline …
During its Presidency, Russia will offer its partners to draft a coordinated strategy for reliable and prompt supply of the global economy and nations with all kinds of energy at prices based on the main economic principles, with the least possible damage to the environment. G8 and Energy Security Civil Society Vision –: G8 and Energy Security Civil Society Vision – To achieve the global energy security and sustainable development of the mankind the leading industrial countries of the world and, first of all, the G8 countries have to undertake coordinated efforts in order to achieve the following long-term goals:
Goal 1. Reduction of damages, decrease in risks of damages to the environment and human living conditions, which occurring during production, transportation, procession and use of conventional energy resources of the XX century, storage and disposal of waste produced at all stages of their live cycle;
Goal 2. By the middle of the XXI century transition to the prevailing use of new and renewable energy sources located as close as possible to the final consumers and available for most inhabitants of the planet.

G8 and Energy Security Civil Society Vision –: G8 and Energy Security Civil Society Vision – At the year of the 20th anniversary of Chernobyl catastrophe we suggest to phase out programs on construction of new units and continuation of operation of the working nuclear energy units,
once and for all stop the state subsidies of any type into nuclear energy in G8 countries.
nuclear energy is not a stable way of the energy development. We insist on abandoning of nuclear energy use and suggest introduction of prohibition of trans-border circulation of nuclear waste. Andrey Ozharovskiy, Ecodefense!

G8 and Energy Security Dialog with Putin –: G8 and Energy Security Dialog with Putin – Andrey Ozharovskiy, Ecodefense!
Berlin, October 17th, 2006.

27. We recognize that G8 members pursue different ways to achieve energy security and climate protection goals.
28. As we meet on the 20th anniversary of the Chernobyl accident, we reiterate the commitments made during the 1996 Moscow Summit on Nuclear Safety and Security, and the paramount importance of safety, security and non-proliferation.

Berlin, October 17th, 2006. 29. Those of us who have or are considering plans relating to the use and/or development of safe and secure nuclear energy believe that its development will contribute to global energy security, while simultaneously reducing harmful air pollution and addressing the climate change challenge:
* The development of innovative nuclear power systems is considered an important element for efficient and safe nuclear energy development. In this respect, we acknowledge the efforts made in the complementary frameworks of the INPRO project and the Generation IV International Forum.
* Until advanced systems are in place, appropriate interim solutions could be pursued to address back-end fuel cycle issues in accordance with national choices and non-proliferation objectives.
* Benefits will stem from improving the economic viability of nuclear power. We recognize that independent effective regulation of nuclear installations is essential for the development of infrastructure supporting safe and secure nuclear energy.
G8 and Energy Security Results –: G8 and Energy Security Results – Andrey Ozharovskiy, Ecodefense!
Berlin, October 17th, 2006. 32. In this respect, we take note of recent potentially complementary initiatives put forward in the IAEA framework regarding multilateral fuel supply assurances, as well as the proposals made by Russia and the U.S., aimed at further development of peaceful nuclear energy, in a manner that promotes proliferation resistance of the nuclear fuel cycle, including preventing the spread of sensitive nuclear technologies.
