Apartheid is actually a big part of their history.Geography: Geography South Africa is located in Africa. South Africa’s climate is very hot and dry it is like 22 to 34 degres . population: (2011) 50.59 million. Languages : Afrikaans, English, isiNdebele, isiXhosa, isiZulu, Sepedi , Sesotho, Setswana, siSwati, Tshivenda, and Xitsonga Capital City: PretoriaFlag: Flag The South African Flag, was created the 27 of April the 1994. The Black, Yellow & Green represent Nelson Mandela’s political party. The Y in the middle represent South Africa’s diversity and unity. Red stands for the blood shed. Blue is for the blue sky, Green for the land, Black for the Black people, White for the European people and Yellow for the gold and resources.Apartheid: Apartheid Apartheid: Apartheid: (in South Africa) a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race. Between 1948- 1994 New laws classified inhabitants into four different groups (native, white, colored and Asian)Apartheid: Apartheid During the apartheid the government forced people to move to their designated, segregated places and caused ‘resettlement’ The government responded to a series popular uprisings and protests with police brutality, which in turn increased local support for the armed resistance struggle. During the protests and uprisings, there were many injuries and even deaths, for many protests people were arrested. In just one peaceful protest 600 were killed and at least 4000 injured. Apartheid was so cruel that family members might find themselves in different race groups.Resolution: Resolution Through out Apartheid there had been protests and uprisings and in 1994 the government decided there had already been too many deaths too many lives wasted. The president, DeKlerk had a serious talk on Robin Island and then they began to free the people of the Apartheid Laws so there could be peace in the country. After that Nelson Mandela became president.Important Influences: Important Influences Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela: Nelson was president of South Africa from 1994 to 1999 and before he was elected president he was a non-segregated, anti-apartheid activist. As the leader of Umkhonto we sizwe (an anti-apartheid organization), he was arrested for sabotage and other charges against Apartheid in 1962. He was sentenced to a lifetime imprisonment but was released early after he served 27 years, he was released in 1990. Mandela was a good speaker and influenced many people with his speeches and words, He was a very influencing leader.South Africa Today: South Africa Today Today in South Africa tourism is high and the country is pretty developed. The soccer World Cup took place in south Africa. Despite the complicated history South Africa is doing well as a country and community.
