About Martin Luther King Jr.: 

About Martin Luther King Jr. His birth name was Michael Luther King Jr., but later he had his name changed to Martin. Born on January 15, 1929 in Atlanta, Georgia. His parents were Alberta Williams King & Martin Luther King Sr.

Family: 

Family He had a sister, Christine King Farris and a brother which was the late Reverend Alfred Daniel Williams King. His family was into church and such. His grandparents were the Reverend Adam Daniel Williams, second pastor of Ebenezer Baptist, and Jenny Parks Williams.

Education: 

Education He began his education at the Yonge Street Elementary School in Atlanta, Georgia. After Yonge School, he went to David T. Howard Elementary School. He also attended the Atlanta University Laboratory School and Booker T. Washington High School. Because of his high score on the college entrance examinations in his junior year of high school, he advanced to Morehouse College without formal graduation from Booker T. Washington. Having skipped both the ninth and twelfth grades, Dr. King entered Morehouse at the age of fifteen. In 1948, he graduated from Morehouse College with a B.A. degree in Sociology.

Careers Martin Luther King Jr. was licensed to preach by Ebenezer Baptist Church deacons, 1947; ordained Baptist minister, 1948; Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Montgomery, AL, pastor, 1954-60; president, Montgomery Improvement Association, 1965-66; Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC), Atlanta, founder, 1957, president and leader of civil rights campaigns, 1957-68; Ebenezer Baptist Church, Atlanta, co-pastor with father, 1960-68. Vice-president, National Sunday School and Baptist Teaching Union Congress of National Baptist Convention.

Achievements: 

Achievements Joins the bus boycott after Rosa Parks was arrested on December 1. On December 5, he is elected president of the Montgomery Improvement Association, making him the official spokesman for the boycott. He won the 1964 Nobel Peace laureate and the individual most associated with the triumphs of the African-American civil rights movement during the 1950s -1960s. Gave a very well known speech, the “I Have Dream” speech, and very much changed the views on racism and segregation. He was one of the brave souls that actually fought for freedom rights !

Historic Remembrance: 

Historic Remembrance Martin Luther King Jr. is remembered as a brave and wise man, a man that stood up for his race, a man that said no to segregation. He wanted to see a difference and he was that difference, he spoke up & he made a difference. He has inspired many and has change many people’s lives. Martin Luther King Jr. was a great man, a great man indeed !
