Slide2: 

The country Vietnam is shaped like the letter S. The countries which border Vietnam are China, Laos and Cambodia. Vietnam is located in South east Asia.

Slide3: 

Rhinocerus are related to horses and tapirs. Rhinoceros are classified as mammals and vegetarians. There are five species of rhinos in the world. They are Javan Rhinocerous, Black Rhinocerous, Indian Rhinocerous, White Rhinocerous and Sumatrian Rhinocerous. Rhinocerous live in Asia and Africa.

There are less than ten Javan Rhinocerous in Vietnam. They live in the jungles of Cat Tien National Park. There are fifty to sixty Javan Rhinocerous living in Indonesia. The Javan Rhinocerous live by themselves and inhabitant two countries which are Vietnam and Indonesia. The Javan Rhinocerous in these countries live in their natural surroundings.

Slide5: 

The Javan Rhinocerous eats vegetation and moves to and from different places, so to get food. Rhinocerous wallow on the mud when it’s very hot in order to protect their skin from getting burnt. A rhino calf can weigh up to 40 kilograms at birth. The calf will stay with its mother for 2-3 years but she will drive away her calf when she produces her next calf.

The female Javan Rhinocerous is pregnant for 15-16 months and it only produces one calf. A calf is born usually every 2 to 5 years. Javan Rhinocerous can live for up to 40 years.

Slide7: 

The Javan Rhinocerous has three toes which make it easily to track down because of their footprint. The Javan Rhinocerous has not a very good ability to see but has very good hearing and sense of smell.

The Javan Rhinoceous has thick layers of grey skin which allows it to camouflage. The Javan Rhinocerous bull have only one horn which seldom grows more than 2.5 cms long. It can grow up to 5.3 metres long, and 1.8 metres high.

Slide9: 

The Javan Rhinocerous’ horns are used by rhino when fighting in order to kill other animals. There are approximately 75 Javan Rhinoceous left in the world today. In Vietnam there are only 5 to 8 Vietnamese Rhinocerous left still alive. The Vietnamese Rhinocerous is a sub-species of the Javan Rhinocerous.

The Javan Rhinocerous is hunted for it’s horn which is used for knives to shave trees. The horn is also used for Chinese medicine, people believe it is a very powerful medicine.
