The park is huge, it is bigger than the states of Delaware and Rhode Island combined. The park covers 2,219,823 acres / 898,714 hectares, 3,472 square miles / 8,987 square km, miles north to south - 63 / 102 km, miles east to west - 54 / 87 km.
