The details are true. Their story is typical of the type of case we handle dozens of times each and every month.May 2008: May 2008 The Smith Family, with and 3 years old, completely remodeled their home that was built in the 1950’s in a suburban community just outside the Beltway in Northern Virginia.Spring 2010: Spring 2010 The Smith’s, now expecting baby #2, noticed their 4 year old was chronically ill. He has a persistent cough and reoccurring hives. Their son was put on a nebulizer, inhaler, and allergy medicine to address the illness. The problem persisted.May 2010: May 2010 While on a two week vacation, The Smith’s noticed that their sons condition drastically improved. Yet, days after they returned home, his condition returned.May 2010: May 2010 They researched possible causes for their sons condition online, but they did not see or smell any mold. One day when moving furniture, they saw some discoloration on the wall. Based on their Research they selectedInterior Inspection: Interior Inspection The certified team of Mold Aid inspectors conducted a thorough inspection of all accessible areas inside the home including the attic, HVAC system, and ductwork.IR Thermal Imaging: IR Thermal Imaging The inspectors used state of the art infra-red thermal imaging cameras to identify hidden pockets of moisture. These $20,000 tools detected elevated moisture in wood flooring and lower sections of wall.Mold Needs Moisture: Mold Needs Moisture Elevated moisture was then confirmed and documented using a moisture meter. Mold needs moisture in excess of 16% and levels we identified moisture levels at 25%+.Hidden Mold: Hidden Mold The Smith’s identified a small area of discoloration. During our inspection, we found several additional areas of hidden contamination.Exterior Inspection: Exterior Inspection The interior inspection pointed to a moisture problem from under the main level floor. Our inspectors evaluated the home’s exterior as well as the crawlspace.Moisture Source: Moisture Source Once inside the crawlspace, the moisture source was obvious. Water pooling in sections of the crawlspace allowing all the required conditions for mold growth.Swab Testing & Analysis: Swab Testing & Analysis The inspectors collected a swab sample of the suspected mold in the crawlspace. This sample is sent to the lab to identify the type of mold. Air Testing & Analysis: Air Testing & Analysis Using a calibrated spore trap, the inspectors run a measured amount of air across a specially treated slide for the lab to identify the types and levels of molds airborne. Samples are collected from several areas inside the home and an exterior sample is used as the baseline for what is considered normal mold levels.Test Results: Test Results When the lab results came back, they showed Penicillium Aspergillus on the swab from the crawlspace and airborne throughout the home at extremely high levels - over 150,000 spores per cubic meter of air which was more than 4,000 times higher than the exterior levels found. What Does That Mean?: What Does That Mean? Penicillium/Aspergillus is a large grouping of mold. Most species are classified as allergenic. A few, rarely found, species are toxigenic. These mold types are extremely small. Small enough, to bypass the bodies natural filters and get deep into the lungs. Hives are common for people allergic to these molds. Results Can Aid Doctors: Results Can Aid Doctors We are mold experts, not doctors. Only a doctor can diagnose or treat health problems. Our training and test results help in giving doctors the information they need to properly diagnose and treat mold related illnesses. The Smiths: The Smiths The Smith’s doctors were able to adjust the treatment for their son based on the new information. His symptoms improved rapidly once he was no longer exposed to the elevated mold levels. The Smith’s are happy they chose Mold Aid!Mold is a Common Problem: Mold is a Common Problem Each day we talk to dozens of people who are in situations similar to the Smith Family. Family members are having unexplained respiratory problems and or mysterious allergic reactions. Doctors do their best to treat them, but are not always successful without knowing the underlying cause.Mold Aid is Here to Help: Mold Aid is Here to Help If you have friends or family with a similar situation, give us a call at 877-932-7177 We consult for free over the phone and can help you decide whether a mold inspection with testing and analysis makes sense.Slide 21: The Mid-Atlantic States Most Trusted & Experienced Team of Mold Experts 877-932-7177 www.moldaid.com You do not have the permission to view this presentation.
