Why are your brakes important? :

41 Why are your brakes important? Brakes are the single most important safety factor in your car.

Slide 42:

42 Your brakes are a complex system. Our brake specialists guarantee a top quality repair – Ensuring your safety. Brakes

Slide 43:

43 Brake Pad Replacement From $99* Free Brake, Steering & Suspension check *2 Wheels, excludes some Vehicles & Machining, applies to R.R.P, Parts Only

Slide 44:

44 One of the easiest ways to tell if they're working is to check your brake warning light. If it's on, they need attention. That's simple enough. But what about the less obvious warning signs. If you experience any of these warning signs?

Slide 45:

45 You should have your brakes checked by a specialist. - Your car loses grip when braking. - Your car pulls to the left or right when braking. - Your brake pedal is low, hard, soft or spongy. - Your steering wheel shudders when you brake. - Your brakes screech or squeal. - Your car takes longer to stop than normal.

Why choose Midas for your brake repairs or service? :

46 Why choose Midas for your brake repairs or service?

Slide 47:

47 Midas carries a wide range of brake replacement parts to suit most popular makes and models. More importantly, the technical expertise of our brake repair specialist ensures you'll leave with your brakes in top condition. And for total peace of mind, our work is backed by the Midas 12 month 20,000 kilometre, Nationwide Guarantee.

Why are your Disc Brake Calipers important ? :

48 Why are your Disc Brake Calipers important ?

Slide 49:

49 When you apply pressure to your brake pedal, this is what happens: Pressure forces brake fluid to engage a series of mechanisms that push Brake pad onto the disc rotor (which is attached to the wheel assembly), bringing your car to a stop. The brake pad is mounted to a brake caliper, which is the part that applies and releases the brake pads from the disc rotor.

Slide 50:

50 The caliper comprises a housing, inside which is a piston that moves back and forth when you apply and release the brakes. Rubber parts inside the caliper ensure that hydraulic fluid does not leak from it. If your vehicle's calipers have not been overhauled for some time, your Midas brake specialist may recommend this service when replacing brake pads. He'll always explain the reason why. Although you do not always need to overhaul calipers in axle sets (pairs), doing so can result in more balanced braking and extended brake pad life. Again, your Midas brake specialist will explain why. Caliper

Slide 51:

51 What makes machining your disc rotors so important?

Slide 52:

52 A disc rotor is the circular metal plate that your brake pad presses against to stop the car. The smoother the surface of the disc rotor, the more efficient the braking. So when new brake pads are fitted, machining of disc rotors ensures maximum braking efficiency. After thousands of braking applications disc rotors wear, and usually unevenly. For effective braking, new brake pads should fit flush against the disc rotor. That's why your disc rotors should be machined by a Midas specialist.

Slide 53:

53 Why is suspension so vital to your car's performance?

Slide 54:

54 One function of your car's suspension is to provide a smooth, comfortable ride even when you're on a bumpy road. However your suspension's most important job is to keep all four tyres in firm contact with the road, so that steering, driving and braking systems are effective.

Slide 55:

55 Shock absorbers (or struts) and springs are the main parts, however it's important that other parts, including ball joints, tie rod ends and suspension bushes are in good condition. There are many parts working together to ensure your car's suspension is doing its job.

Slide 56:

56 If any of these parts are worn your suspension system becomes ineffective. For example, just one worn shock absorber means you may need up to 2.6 metres longer to stop. That could be the difference between stopping safely or crashing.

Your Car's Exhaust :

60 Your Car's Exhaust

Slide 61:

61 There's one very obvious way to tell if your exhaust needs repairing. It makes a louder noise. Don't let it reach the point where your neighbours run for cover when you start your car in the morning. The warning signs of a worn exhaust system are not always so obvious. A worn exhaust system will affect your car's performance so have your car's exhaust system checked regularly by a specialist.

Slide 62:

Slide 63:

63 We have a range of exhausts to suit over 2,000 different vehicles (including European and 4WD) which can be expertly fitted to your car. Mufflers

Slide 64:

64 What does a Catalytic Converter do?

Slide 65:

65 Since 1986, car manufacturers have Been required by law to fit all new passenger vehicles with catalytic converters. A catalytic converter transforms harmful exhaust gases into elements which are environmentally friendly.

Slide 66:

66 In other words, it takes out the nasties. These poisonous pollutants are actually converted into harmless nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water by your catalytic converter. So what comes out of your exhaust pipe won't harm mother nature.

Slide 67:

67 Would you like Extra Power?

Slide 68:

68 If you want to get better performance from your car, the exhaust system is a good place to start. - Extractors are an inexpensive way to boost the power of your engine. You'll be surprised at the difference. At Midas, we carry a range of extractors for many vehicles, and extra power is just one of the advantages they offer. Here are a few more that apply:   - Increased power for towing. - Your engine runs cooler. - Improved fuel economy. - More torque from your four-wheel drive.

Slide 69:

69 Advantages of a Midas Repairs Midas carry a wide range of mufflers to suit most popular makes and models. Midas exhausts keep your car performing at maximum efficiency and prevent dangerous fumes from entering your car. Unlike many others, Midas guarantees all our exhaust parts and workmanship.

Slide 71:

71 Why does your automatic transmission need a flush?

Slide 72:

72 Poor Fluid Flow Heat Retention Poor Gear Changes Reduced Life Automatic gearboxes require transmission fluid to be changed regularly, not only to prolong the life of the gearbox, but also to ensure it performs at its best. This is considered so important that it's often part of maintaining a new car's warranty. When old transmission fluid is flushed out of the system, transmission coolers, lines and torque converters should be drained to prevent the possibility of sludge remaining. Here are some of the things that can happen to your transmission if sludgy fluid is not flushed away properly.

Slide 73:

73 Why is the Midas flush and fill service the best?

Slide 74:

74 At Midas we use the most advanced transmission flushing equipment available. The machine removes most of the dangerous old fluid and Midas disposes of it without harming the environment. Your gearbox is then filled with new transmission fluid that meets or exceeds the standards specified by your car's manufacturer. Note! The Midas Automatic Transmission Flush cannot repair automatic transmissions that are already damaged.

Slide 75:

75 Only selected shops also offer a transmission flush.

Midas Car Care Tips :

80 Midas Car Care Tips

Slide 81:

81 Whilst driving with a overly noisy faulty exhaust may not seem like a big deal. In some cases, damaged exhausts can send harmful carbon monoxide fumes into your car cabin, affecting the health of you and your family. Don’t leave it unchecked. Tip 1

Slide 82:

82 When filling your vehicle with fuel, get into the habit of opening the bonnet and checking your oil level. Oil is vital to reduce engine wear and friction, and maintaining the health of your vehicle. Tip 2

Slide 83:

83 Did you know that to maintain your car effectively you just need to remember one word. Petrol. Petrol stands for Petrol, Electricals, Tyres, Radiator, Oil and Lights. Check all these regularly and you’ll have a safer drive. Tip 3

Slide 84:

84 When you consider that many traffic accidents, occur within a short distance from a driver’s home it should tell you one thing, you can never be to careful, and never assume you know the road even the one you live in, as conditions change Tip 4

Slide 85:

85 Did you know that travelling in a car with babies or small infants, you should always use an approved car child restraint? Never carry a child in your lap, as should you have an accident, you could risk injury to the infant and yourself. And children younger than 12 should not sit in front of airbags. Tip 5

Slide 86:

86 Did you know that when driving at night, key signs and traffic lights can be harder to make out? For greater safety, allow a further distance between you and the car in front. Tip 6
