Science is nothing but: observing, experimenting and inferring ______ and that is what SCIENCE FILES is all about ! observing experimenting inferringSlide 4: Science is nothing but: observing, experimenting and inferring ______ and that is what SCIENCE FILES is all about !Slide 5: Teaching Science the interesting wayGeneral tips: General tips A teacher can make science subject very interesting for kids or can make it very boring. The teaching should be started in a very casual manner. You don’t have to mention the name ‘ science ’ while starting your lecture.. You can come to it later, when you have familiarized the children with the subject matter. Then you can say that this is what we call science . That too should come at the level 3, not before that.Slide 7: As a starter the teacher should talk about the things around the child, or about the daily happenings in a very casual and informal manner. The classroom environment should be a relaxed, calm and comfortable one. Avoid tense manners. Even if you are teaching the first graders, you should be very clear yourself about your concepts.Slide 8: When you enters the class-room you must be well prepared and organized in respect of: the topic of the day, the class-room environment, mental status of pupils, and the extent of knowledge that has to be imparted in the given time. Never try to finish the lesson in one go .Slide 9: Take your time in making them understand each and every aspect of the topic by: repeated discussions a lot of oral question-answer sessions then switching on to the written work .Slide 10: The simple lessons of science at primary level are more or less the same in all the prescribed books. When u start a new sc class whatever its level may be, please do emphasize upon: Observing Thinking Experimenting Recording the observed facts Inferring Formulating results Because this is what science is all about!Slide 11: MODEL LESSON If you are teaching a lesson about water , here are some suggestions about the discussion: 1. how we use water in our daily life water 2. how rain water helps us 3. How plants will wither and dry up without water. 4. how water evaporates 5. how water freezes, and how does it boil 6. what are clouds made up of 7. how certain objects float in water while others sink .Slide 12: Remember the best tool that you have is your speaking ability , the blackboard and chalk . Moreover big drawings and charts can be substituted for these presentation slides Remember do not limit yourself to the textbook . Textbook is a good guide for the teacher; moreover the textbooks with special teachers’ resource books are indeed very useful. REMEMBERSlide 13: Other very cheap and easy to procure resource materials are available to every school. The science teacher or the in-charge can make a list of such materials for every class and make sure that these are available at the scheduled time . a beforehand lesson planning is but essential.
