Mary Is Just A Woman :
Mary Is Just A Woman I have a friend that says that Mary was just a woman and doesn’t understand why Catholics pay so much attention to her.
How to I answer them?
Mary is a very special woman, she was the earthly mother of the Son of God.
Let’s see what the Bible has to say about her. Lourdes, France
Gospel of Luke :
Gospel of Luke Lk. 1:26 In the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth,
27 to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary.
A visit from an angel is special but the Bible tells us this angel Gabriel told Mary that she will give birth to Jesus the Son of the Most High, the Son of God (Lk. 1:30-31).
Mary agrees “And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be done unto me according to your word.” (Lk. 1:38) Fatima at Sunset
Slide 4:
To say that Mary was just a plain woman is like saying the Ark of the Covenant was just another wooden box.
The Ark of the Covenant was holy because it carried the stone version of the word of God.
It was holy because it carried the manna that God had sent from Heaven.
How much holier must Mary have been as the carrier of the word of God in the flesh?!
How much holier must Mary have been as the carrier of the bread of life?! To what other woman was given the honor of being called “the mother of my Lord”?
To what other woman did God send the angel Gabriel to say, “Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with you”?
Slide 5:
What other woman ever bore God in her womb?
What other woman was “overshadowed” by the Holy Spirit?
Think of the conversation that she had with Elizabeth, “Luke 1:41-42, ”...and Elizabeth was filled with the Holy Spirit and she exclaimed with a loud cry, ‘Blessed are you among women and blessed is the fruit of your womb!’”
Luke 1:48, “For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.” It doesn’t sound to me like a conversation between to average pregnant ladies.
One of the most outlandish things that I’ve ever heard was that Mary was just an “incubator” for Jesus.
That’s not very scriptural, is it?
Lk. 1:43 And why is this granted me, that the incubator of my Lord should come to me?
Scripture doesn’t say that at all.
Mary :
Mary It says, “And why is this granted me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me?”
To say that Mary – the daughter of the Father, the mother of the Son, and the spouse of the Holy Spirit – was just a “plain woman” is the height of absurdity.
No other human being has had such intimate relationships with all the persons of the Trinity.
Biblical Basis :
Biblical Basis Jesus honored her, that is, of course, if you think He kept the Commandment about honoring your father and your mother.
Clearly, honoring Mary is Biblically based.
So, if Jesus honored her, shouldn’t we imitate Jesus in what He did and how He lived?
If so, then we should honor her, too. Medjugorje
