Deuteronomy 30:10-14 :

Deuteronomy 30:10-14 Return to Lord with whole heart and soul. His command is not far from you.

Slide 2:

10 if you obey the voice of the Lord your God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 11 “For this commandment which I command you this day is not too hard for you, neither is it far off. 12 It is not in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up for us to heaven, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will go over the sea for us, and bring it to us, that we may hear it and do it?’ 14 But the word is very near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart, so that you can do it. Slide 3:

Clearly God wants us to keep his commandments. Jewish leaders created 603 man made laws which were attached to God’s Ten Commandments. The leaders failed to recognize that God’s laws were more important than theirs. Most of the people of the time didn’t know all of the laws which then gave religious leaders power to control them with guilt. Have you ever said you would obey God if you knew what he wanted? As this reading states obey his commandments, that’s what he wants. If you follow the advice of this reading you wouldn’t be the one bringing trouble into your life would you? Others will bring trouble but you will be able to handle it because you will have a firm foundation in God’s law which will help you see and live through problems.
