Slide 2:7? Therefore I prayed, and understanding was given to me;
I called upon God, and the spirit of wisdom came to me.
?8? I preferred her to scepters and thrones, and I accounted wealth as nothing in comparison with her.
?9? Neither did I liken to her any priceless gem, because all gold is but a little sand in her sight, and silver will be accounted as clay before her.
10? I loved her more than health and beauty, and I chose to have her rather than light, because her radiance never ceases.
11? All good things came to me along with her, and in her hands uncounted wealth. The Holy Bible : Revised Standard Version Second Catholic edition (2006), with the ecclesiastical approval of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Thomas Nelson Publishing for Ignatius Press.
Slide 3:King Solomon tells us that he was born like any other child of his time.
Unlike the other people of his time he turned to the Lord in prayer, a prayer not out of selfishness but a prayer which asked for the wisdom to rule his people (2 Chr. 1:8-10).
Solomon preferred wisdom to gold and silver which in worldly thinking would have been surprising.
The world values gold and silver and its acquisition at any cost. Worldly people only consider the temporal world but Solomon turned his eyes to the eternal world.
