What Do We Know? :

What Do We Know? What do we know about Eve? She was God’s creation and His answer to Adam’s search for a helpmate. She and her Husband Adam lived in a world of perfect peace, the garden of Eden, a place we call Paradise. There were no illnesses, suffering, or pain not even death. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to live without injuries, confusion, jealousy, resentment, shame or grief? In Genesis 2:15-17 God placed Adam in the garden of Eden with instructions not to eat of the tree of good and evil or death would result. The story of Eve is set in motion by God’s statement in Genesis 2:18, “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him a helper fit for him.” God caused a deep sleep to come on Adam, and took one of his ribs, and formed Eve.

Just Imagine :

Just Imagine Imagine if you had been Eve and it was God Himself who blew the breath of life into you. You open your eyes and hear voices, one is God’s and the other Adam’s. You feel total acceptance when you hear the words, the man said, “This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman” Then one day a serpent spoke to you. “Did God say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree of the garden’?” ?2? And the woman said to the serpent, “We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden; ?3? but God said, ‘You shall not eat of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, neither shall you touch it, lest you die. (Gen. 3:1-3).’”

God Like :

God Like The serpent goes on to explain that if you eat of that tree you can be just like God. She wanted to be like God so her pride took control and she ate the fruit and then shared it with her husband. Suddenly, there eyes were opened and their perfect world ceased to exist, they had brought sin and death into the world. It wasn’t long before Adam heard the voice of God and then he hid himself because he was naked and ashamed. Like any other just parent God had to punish their sin. There sin had driven a wedge between God and themselves that only Jesus could repair. The serpent was told that enmity, mutual hatred, will be placed between the serpent and the human race.

Slide 5:

God then says that He will seriously increase her childbearing pain (Gn. 3:16). Then God sentences Adam to a life of hard labor (Gn. 3:17). Until this time both Adam and Eve were immortal but now they would age and their bodies would die, but their souls live for ever. Adam named the woman Eve because she would be the mother of all the living (Gn. 3:20). Eve was the first to conceive a child, did she understand what was happening? Did she understand the love that would bond her to the child? She clearly understands that God is in control of life and the birth when she says, “I have produced a man with the help of the LORD.” (Gn. 4:1) She did not have a mother to turn to and ask questions about the birth or care of the baby.

Midwives :

Midwives In time there would develop a group of women who would be known as midwives. They were skilled women who developed remedies for common delivery problems and would be competent to help mothers with the birth. Some of their duties would be to cut the umbilical cord, wash the baby with water, rub the infant with salt and then wrap the child in swaddling cloths. In Exodus 1:16 we hear of one of their inventions the birth stool.

Life’s Lessons :

Life’s Lessons In time Eve gave birth to her first born son, Cain and then Able. Her son Cain would later become the murderer of Abel. After Abel’s death God sent her only remaining son away to the land of Nod. After this sorrow she and Adam conceive and she gave birth to a third son, Seth (Gn. 4:25). With the help of God, Adam, and Seth her hope for the future is restored. Eve became the first of many women to reflect God’s love, truth, strength, goodness, and wisdom, because of their children. Yes, every time we sin we repeat Adam & Eve’s sin by not doing the will of the Father. Like so many other women Eve had the courage to face many heart breaking challenges with style and grace.

Centuries :

Centuries Just like Eve we need to learn to trust the Lord and surrender our lives to His will. As Jesus says: “Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me; still, not my will but yours be done (Lk. 22:42)” Eve was a woman of faith, love, hope and charity. Females share these images of God with the world that He created. Eve’s life was plagued with moments of pain, sorrow, but she was also blessed with joy and happiness. Will you have Eve’s courage? Will you rise to the moment? Will you be able to endure the joys and sorrows of life?
