On the other hand, big percentage of “local work migrants” work for universities before they relocate to Moscow / St. Petersburg. So, “local brain drain” also means “academic brain drain”, and it will result in dramatic deterioration of quality of education in local Russian universities The question: will it be possible to hire programmers from Russian non-capital cities in 5 years?Project Virtuoso: Project Virtuoso Initiated by Intel An idea was born in March 2004 The first pilot project has been successfully conducted in August-December 2004 The second pilot project will be conducted in August-December 2005 If the second pilot is successful, we will make the project Virtuoso regular Organized by Nizhniy Novgorod State University The Computer Science Faculty The Continued Education Faculty Supported by Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Kaspersky Lab, Borland, etc…An Idea: An Idea University of Nizhniy Novgorod (UNN) with Intel, Microsoft, IBM, Kaspersky Lab, Borland and some other world-known high-tech companies conduct joint internship program in the fall semesters of years 2004/2005 The program is targeting best PhD students and young associated professors from various CIS universities - those who have strong English, good knowledge on computer science and industrial experience These guys relocate to Nizhniy Novgorod for one semester During this “academic internship” program they attend various courses on software engineering.
