Example: Country A is 600km away from Country B, a bomb on average will take 3 seconds to hit fly a distance of 120km. How long will it take for a bomb to hit Country B from Country A? COUNTRY A COUNTRY B 600 km Speed = Distance/Time (V = D/T) When D = 120 and T = 3, V = 120/3 = 40km² When V = 40 and D = 600, 40 = 600/T 40T = 600 T = 600/40 T = 15s Hence, a bomb will take 15 seconds to hit Country B from Country A. Total Defence Day is commemorated on the 15th February each year as it marks Singapore's fall to the Japanese in 1942. It reminds us of the hardships and sufferings endured by our forefathers during the Japanese Occupation . We should never forget the heroic acts and sacrifices done by our war heroes such as Mr Lim Bo Seng, Mr Tan Chong Tee, Mdm Elizabeth Choy, and many more. It also emphasises the fact that everyone has a role to play in Singapore’s defence. In times of emergencies and crises , authorities alone will not be able to handle everything hence we have to respond quickly and deal with the threats and challenges that we may face, and this will ensure the security and survival of our nation.
