Abstract :6/3/2009 6 Abstract 6/3/2009 6 The purpose of this research is to see how the stem cell will change the future of health and disease. There are three main components to the stem cell. These help the cell to be “unspecialized”. This means that they are able to adapt to the other cells around the stem cell and become the new cell. These cells are able to treat many cell related diseases and eventually remove them. Scientists, in an attempt to please the ethics groups have even found a way to remove the cells before the fetus is technically living. They have even found a way to completely surpass the use of the stem cell. The goal of all Stem cell research is to remove the feeling of suffering.

WHAT IS A STEM CELL? :6/3/2009 7 WHAT IS A STEM CELL? 6/3/2009 7 Dividing and Renewing Unspecialized Generative Consists of Three Properties http://healthcare.zdnet.com ("What are the Unique Properties of All Stem Cells?”)

The ethical debate is… :6/3/2009 15 The ethical debate is… 6/3/2009 15 Death of living embryo vs. end of human suffering http://chernobyl.typepad.com (International Society for Stem Cell Research) VS http://www.abc.net.au/

Other methods of gathering :6/3/2009 16 Other methods of gathering 6/3/2009 16 Blastomere Extraction A way to avoid ethics The embryo will live Extract from the Blastomere Altered Nuclear Transfer Embryo is never created Somatic cell is genetically altered http://www.endanimalcloning.org http://www.repromeda.cz ("New Harvesting Techniques.”)

SO NOW WHAT? :6/3/2009 18 SO NOW WHAT? Evaluate Yourself. How do you feel about stem cells? What would you do if you have the option of living because of a stem cell transfer? Do you feel this surgery is ethically correct? Voice your opinion Contact your state representative. Get the truth out to all your friends and family. Vote in elections and consider their opinions on the stem cell. http://www.co.cumberland.nj.us
