Short answers :Short answers Use yes or no, a pronoun to substitute for the subject NP if it is not already a pronoun, and the operator. If the answer begins with no, the operator is followed by not in either the contracted or uncontracted form. (Sometimes the subject pronoun contracts with the operator.)
