Selection of the E&E Outcome Evaluation: 

Selection of the E&E Outcome Evaluation Strategic importance of E&E for China Large share of UNDP resources for E&E (close to 50% of the total UNDP resources during 2001-2005) Large number of UNDP projects in E&E portfolio (total: 70 projects, of which 40 MP projects) Rapid increase of resources from GEF and private sector for E&E efforts in China UNDP’s comparative advantage in E&E (UNDP as a “social development agency”) and cost effectiveness of UNDP’s efforts in E&E

Use of the E&E Outcome Evaluation: 

Use of the E&E Outcome Evaluation More focused E&E portfolio (currently about 20 E&E projects) A reinforced E&E Team, with new posts created and new staff recruited, new sub-teams (e.g. energy, biodiversity, POPs) and revised job descriptions More inter-team cooperation within the country office (e.g. social-economic, governance, PPP) More active role in the UNTG on E&E More partnerships with non-traditional partners (e.g. private sector, EU)
