Sandberg September 2005 JSandberg@bnl.gov Summer Shutdown Work 2005AGS Booster PS: AGS Booster PS Replaced and tested 80 new Siemens relays / connect to PLC Installed Klixon on all AGS magnets. Constructed and tested a PLC Monitoring Rack. Super-periods D,E will be made functional Replace all the AGS MMPS controllers with PSI’s. Install a Booster MMPS phase shifting transformer RMS current interlock. Installed a current error warning. AGS Booster PS: AGS Booster PS Warm Snake Retrofitting 3 ACME PS’s with new regulators & controls. Manufacturing 3 new LRC passive filters In the process of commissioning these PS’s Modifying DC cable connections for to be used for the new warm snake magnets in E19, F1.AGS Booster PS: AGS Booster PS AGS cold snake 3 ITECO power supplies paralleled for the A20 BLW. New configuration of the B2,B3, B4,B5 BLW and modifications of the Danfysik PS. New configuration of the A16,A17,A18,A19 BLW and modifications of the Danfysik PS. Split of the A19 and B1 quads so they could be fed from two independent PS’s.AGS Booster PS: AGS Booster PS New PSI controls for the Booster V,H sextuple power supplies and control modifications for the Booster V,H quad power supplies. Test and trouble shoot vertical quad dc buss drift. Test and modify digital read back signals. Test and modify vertical quad for 750 amp operation. RHIC Power Supplies: IR Power Supplies and QPA’s: Checking all current regulator card relays. Installing fan interlock test points on QPA’s. Checking all insulation displacement connectors on QPA’s that tripped on an OVC fault. All of the DC cables and signal cables between the p.s.’s and the QPA’s were labeled in the service buildings. This is done. RHIC Power SuppliesRHIC Power Supplies: RHIC Power Supplies IR Power Supplies and QPA’s: All of the 150A and 300A p.s.’s were opened so the connections could be checked and a soft start resistor tested. One resistor failed during the run. Two more suspect resistors were found during this inspection. Maintenance has been completed on the 6000A Quench Switches at 1010A.RHIC Power Supplies: Corrector Lead Voltage Monitor System Installing new 1-Wire voltage monitor boards at each CQS and triplet corrector leads total of 492 boards The system monitors the total voltage across a magnet circuit at the room temperature end of the gas cooled leads. At DC currents this is a measure of the lead temperature. RHIC Power SuppliesRHIC Power Supplies: Corrector Power Supplies 50 correctors removed due to excessive voltage ripple. Cleaning the internal DCCT connections solved problem RHIC Power SuppliesMain Power Supplies: Adding instrumentation to monitor gate current of OCC Quench SCRs. This will detect an abnormal condition and report to the control system. Maintenance on all Phoenix style connector connections. Main Power Supplies RHIC Power SuppliesRHIC Power Supplies: RHIC Power Supplies New Software and Software Modifications Improvements made to automatic QLI analysis program Improvements to snapshot selector window A program to check for PS errors during beam abort which enters data into e-log automatically. AGS Cold Snake P.S.: Shorten MADC cables for PS analog readbacks. Replaced Quench Heaters so variable units could be used as spares. Replaced D connector backshells. AGS Cold Snake P.S. RHIC Power SuppliesTilt Meters: Tilt meters are being installed on Q1, Q2 and Q3 in sectors 3 and 4. They should be ready to be used sometime during the week of 9/25.
