Community Colleges of Appalachia Annual Conference June 11 – 14, 2006 Mission Statement: Mission Statement The mission of West Virginia State Community and Technical College as an administratively-linked institution to West Virginia State University is to provide comprehensive higher education and workforce training programs and services of superior quality that are financially and geographically accessible and that meet the individual, business, and community needs of the service district. Downsizing of local companies provided excellent candidates for the PPT program Funding was approved in August 2004 Faculty and Staff Hired with direct input from AEP – September 2004 APC approved the degree program & curriculum in November 2004 Program accepted its first class January 2005Promoting and Advertising the Program: Promoting and Advertising the Program Press Conference with AEP Executives, WVSCTC, WV Development Office, and Chancellor of CTCSWV. Press Conference was well attended and covered by radio, print, and television. Governor endorsed the program as the type of training needed to promote economic development in WV AEP provided in-house articles Recruitment of Students: Recruitment of Students Development of the WVSCTC PPT Admissions Requirements How rigorous and rigid should the standards be?Recruitment of Students: Recruitment of Students Pro’s and Con’s How to plan for developmental needs?
