: 

Prolapse of uterus means an eversion of uterus i.e. it turns inside out. It occurs mostly in buffalo, cow and ewes. Rarely in dogs cats and mares.

SYMPTOMS : 

SYMPTOMS 0bvious Animal standing with the uterus hanging to the hocks Caruncles can be observed on the uterus which is prolapsed through the vulva. Depression Prostration Haemorrhage

PROGNOSIS : 

PROGNOSIS In early observed cases, where uterus is not severely injured and veterinarian is called early, prognosis for life of cow is good. 80% survival rate (Murphy & Dobson, 2002). For future breeding prognosis is good if no sever injury. If uterus is dry due to sun exposure, contamination, prognosis is not good. Mortality in cows 18% (Roberts)

TREATMENT : 

TREATMENT Wrap the uterus in wet towel until replacement Raise the uterus at the level of vulva in case of standing cow Use epidural anesthesia Clean the uterus with KMnO4 sol. Ligate the ruptured uterus

TREATMENT : 

TREATMENT Give 20-30 i.u of oxytocin i/m after replacement Put 1-2 grm oxytetracycline i/u Milfone C. 300ml i/v Apply suture or trus for 1-3 days
