Pop music doesn’t normally make sense. It is usually a fun song that everyone likes the sound to as it is catchy and interesting. The music video for pop music shouldn’t be a serious video, it should be light-hearted and fun. Therefore ‘Moves like Jagger’ falls into the ‘pop' category as it is very popular and extremely contagious. The chorus most especially is infectious as it is stuck in ones head. The lyrics to the song is very easy which makes the song fun, happy and makes people want to dance. According to yahoo music, ‘Moves like Jagger’ marks the first time that two former Best New Artist Grammy Award winners have collaborated on a Hot 100 track ever. The song has a very simple meaning as Levine sings about having dance “moves like [Mick] Jagger.” The 68-year-old leader of the Rolling Stones has always been known for having impressive and unusual dance moves while on stage, and the song and video takes a look at these moves — but mostly 1960s Mick Jagger.

The video begins with some black and white footage of roadies constructing a stage while background extras and dancers sit around the stage trying on costumes and wigs straight out of England circa 1964. The video cuts to an interview with a young Mick Jagger who is being asked how long he thinks he will continue to perform live — in which he has already been touring for two years. According to Goodwin’s theory, the lyrics amplifies the video because when the song kicks in, the audience immediately see the dancers — some dressed like Mick Jagger, some dressed oddly, and some barely dressed at all — they all start to show their Jagger imitations. The scenes cut very quickly between the dancers, the members of Maroon 5 performing their instruments, and shots of Mick Jagger performing on stage in the 1960s. There are also a lot of shots of Maroon 5 front man Adam Levine who is shirtless and covered in tattoos.

The scene continues with more and more impersonators taking the stage until Aguilera makes her appearance singing the bridge. The chorus then kicks back in with all the impersonators jumping on stage and dancing to the remainder of the song. At the end of the video, another quick clip of the Mick Jagger interview is played with the famous singer saying, “I think we are pretty set up for at least another year.” Jagger was obviously right, but he underestimated by just a bit; The Rolling Stones have kept going strong for 49 more years. This again amplifies the music video as Mick Jagger is the main focus of the song and that focus is established throughout the video. The link to the video is shown below.
