ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) ■ Trade facilitation: Good tracking on the development of ASEAN Single Windows ■ e-Business: e-ASEAN Working Group (EAWG) - dissolved in 2005 and integrated into the activities of the telecommunications working group ■ Further tracking on the e-Business activities of ASEAN is necessary

APEC (Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation) ■ ECSG (Electronic Commerce Steering Group) - Paperless Trading SubGroup - Data Privacy SubGroup ■ Participated in the 12th ECSG and Sub-group meetings with official invitation - Sep. 2005,Kyung-Ju, Korea - Introduced UN/CEFACT and proposed collaboration on paperless trading → capacity building, promotion & paperless trading standards dev. - went into internal process to grant a guest status to UN/CEFACT ■ Participated in the 13th ECSG and Sub-group meetings - Feb. 2006, Ha Noi, Vietnam - ECSG granted a guest status to UN/CEFACT - 2nd PPP(Public Private Partnership) Dialogue on Paperless Trading was held

1. ebXML (e-Business) Asia Committee (eAC) ■ Regional body to promote the implementation of ebXML(e-Business) in the region ■ 13th and 14th eAC Meeting - 13th : Jun. 20 - 24, 2005, Hong Kong SAR, China - 14th : Nov. 22 – 25, 2005, Taipei, Chinese Taipei - Plenary, two task groups (CCTG & ITG) and one project (RRF) ■ RRF (Registry and Repository Federation) Project - Joint project with ISO/IEC JTC1 SC32 WG2(Metadata) - Held several interim meetings in 2005 - Completed a pilot test and guideline at the 14th Meeting ■ ITG (Interoperability Task Group) - Planning on future activities on testing ebMS 3.0 and Web Services

Observations & Suggestions ■ Much efforts on trade facilitation and e-Business are on-going in the region ■ Effort to Coordinate among regional bodies and with UN/CEFACT is necessary ■ UN/CEFACT should be at the centre of this coordination effort and the commitment for this effort should come from within UN/CEFACT first. - AFACT: Much closer collaboration and support from UN/CEFACT is needed → formal liaison at the working group level → joint promotion activities - APEC: Next ECSG on Sep. 2006 for official UN/CEFACT presence - ASEM: Next meeting on Nov. 2006 in China - PAA, eAC, ASEAN, etc. ■ Continue seeking collaboration with regional bodies whenever circumstances allow
