Keys to Servanthood: Keys to Servanthood Phil 1:2-6, “Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ. I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Partnership in the gospel (5) He who has begun a good work in you (6)

Slide3: Phil 1:7-8, “It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.” You share in God’s grace with me (7)

Keys to Servanthood: Keys to Servanthood Fellowship(koinonia) is a word that has in a sense, lost it's Biblical meaning. It is more than having a church social after service. It is the intimate sharing of hearts in the area of the love of Christ that we share in common. Buying Stamps Keys to Servanthood:

Servant’s Mind: Servant’s Mind Phil 1:3, “I thank my God every time I remember you.” Ice cream Paul could have remembered where he was Paul could have remembered bad stuff in Philippi: falsely accused, beaten, imprisoned I believe he remembered: the jailor and his household, Lydia and the new Christians

Servant’s Mind: Servant’s Mind Grace Peace God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ Thankful Joyful Confident Good work in you Completion

Servant’s Heart: Servant’s Heart Phil 1:7-8, “It is right for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart; for whether I am in chains or defending and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God's grace with me. God can testify how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.”

Servant’s Heart: Servant’s Heart The High Priest’s ephod This goes a little deeper than having someone in our mind. Christian love is not something we work up but something we allow to flow through. Jesus has given His love. We have to put away selfishness and pride in order to allow that to flow through. Paul said I have you in my heart Prisoner or free- you share in God’s grace with me

Servant’s Heart: Servant’s Heart Paul greatly desires in his heart to be with them With the affection of Jesus Christ Affection: bowels, deep inside As servants of Jesus Christ we must love each other with our hearts like Christ loved us.

Servant’s Prayer: Servant’s Prayer Phil 1:9-11, “And this is my prayer: that your love may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight, so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless until the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ-- to the glory and praise of God.”

Servant’s Prayer: Servant’s Prayer The Philippians had a good understanding of love. Paul prayed they would abound in love Also that they would abound in knowledge and depth of insight (discernment) He wants them to mature in Christ So they would be pure (sincere) Blameless (without offense)

Servant’s Prayer: Servant’s Prayer Fruits of righteousness that come through Jesus Gal 5:22-24, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires.”

Slide13: Keys to Servanthood A Servant’s mind never forgets that he is a servant of Christ and can joyfully serve others. A Servant’s heart never stops loving his Master and Lord Jesus and never stops loving others. A Servant’s prayer longs for more love, deeper understanding, sincerity, fruits of righteousness that comes through Christ and more time to glorify and praise God.
