Luke 1:51He has shown strength and made might with His arm; He has scattered the proud and haughty in and by the imagination and purpose and designs of their hearts.Luke 1:50-52 (in Context) Luke 1 (Whole Chapter)
Romans 11:20That is true. But they were broken (pruned) off because of their unbelief (their lack of real faith), and you are established through faith [because you do believe]. So do not become proud and conceited, but rather stand in awe and be reverently afraid.Romans 11:19-21 (in Context) Romans 11 (Whole Chapter)
1 Corinthians 5:2And you are proud and arrogant! And you ought rather to mourn (bow in sorrow and in shame) until the person who has done this [shameful] thing is removed from your fellowship and your midst!1 Corinthians 5:1-3 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 5 (Whole Chapter)
1 Corinthians 8:1NOW ABOUT food offered to idols: of course we know that all of us possess knowledge [concerning these matters. Yet mere] knowledge causes people to be puffed up (to bear themselves loftily and be proud), but love (affection and goodwill and benevolence) edifies and builds up and encourages one to grow [to his full stature].1 Corinthians 8:1-3 (in Context) 1 Corinthians 8 (Whole Chapter)
2 Corinthians 1:14[Just] as you have [already] partially known and understood and acknowledged us and recognized that you can [honestly] be proud of us, even as we [can be proud] of you on the day of our Lord Jesus.2 Corinthians 1:13-15 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 1 (Whole Chapter)
2 Corinthians 5:12We are not commending ourselves to you again, but we are providing you with an occasion and incentive to be [rightfully] proud of us, so that you may have a reply for those who pride themselves on surface appearances [ on the virtues they only appear to have], although their heart is devoid of them.2 Corinthians 5:11-13 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 5 (Whole Chapter)
Scriptureswww.biblegateway.com :Scriptureswww.biblegateway.com 2 Corinthians 8:24Show to these men, therefore, in the sight of the churches, the reality and plain truth of your love (your affection, goodwill, and benevolence) and what [good reasons] I had for boasting about and being proud of you.2 Corinthians 8:23-24 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 8 (Whole Chapter)
2 Corinthians 10:5[Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One),2 Corinthians 10:4-6 (in Context) 2 Corinthians 10 (Whole Chapter)
1 Timothy 6:17As for the rich in this world, charge them not to be proud and arrogant and contemptuous of others, nor to set their hopes on uncertain riches, but on God, Who richly and ceaselessly provides us with everything for [our] enjoyment.1 Timothy 6:16-18 (in Context) 1 Timothy 6 (Whole Chapter)
2 Timothy 3:2For people will be lovers of self and [utterly] self-centered, lovers of money and aroused by an inordinate [greedy] desire for wealth, proud and arrogant and contemptuous boasters. They will be abusive (blasphemous, scoffing), disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy and profane.2 Timothy 3:1-3 (in Context) 2 Timothy 3 (Whole Chapter)
James 4:6But He gives us more and more grace ( power of the Holy Spirit, to meet this evil tendency and all others fully). That is why He says, God sets Himself against the proud and haughty, but gives grace [continually] to the lowly (those who are humble enough to receive it).James 4:5-7 (in Context) James 4 (Whole Chapter)
1 Peter 5:5Likewise, you who are younger and of lesser rank, be subject to the elders (the ministers and spiritual guides of the church)--[giving them due respect and yielding to their counsel]. Clothe (apron) yourselves, all of you, with humility [as the garb of a servant, so that its covering cannot possibly be stripped from you, with freedom from pride and arrogance] toward one another. For God sets Himself against the proud (the insolent, the overbearing, the disdainful, the presumptuous, the boastful)--[and He opposes, frustrates, and defeats them], but gives grace (favor, blessing) to the humble.1 Peter 5:4-6 (in Context) 1 Peter 5 (Whole Chapter)
Matthew Henry Commentarywww.biblegateway.com :Matthew Henry Commentarywww.biblegateway.com Psalm 59:12
12For the sin of their mouths and the words of their lips, let them even be trapped and taken in their pride, and for the cursing and lying which they utter.
Matthew Henry Commentary
He foresees their destruction.
It is our wisdom and duty, in times of danger and difficulty, to wait upon God; for he is our defence, in whom we shall be safe. It is very comfortable to us, in prayer, to look to God as the God of our mercy, the Author of all good in us, and the Giver of all good to us. The wicked can never be satisfied, which is the greatest misery in a poor condition. A contented man, if he has not what he would have, yet he does not quarrel with Providence, nor fret within himself. It is not
poverty, but discontent that makes a man unhappy. David would praise God because he had many times, and all along, found Him his refuge in the day of trouble. He that is all this to us, is certainly worthy of our best affections, praises, and services. The trials of his people will end in joy and praise. When the night of affliction is over, they will sing of the Lord's power and mercy in the morning. Let believers now, in assured faith and hope, praise Him for those mercies, for which they
will rejoice and praise him for ever.

Easton Dictionarywww.biblegateway.com :Easton Dictionarywww.biblegateway.com Stoics
a sect of Greek philosophers at Athens, so called from the Greek word stoa i.e., a "porch" or "portico," where they have been called "the Pharisees of Greek paganism." The founder of the Stoics was Zeno, who flourished about B.C. 300. He taught his disciples that a man's happiness consisted in bringing himself into harmony with the course of the universe. They were trained to bear evils with indifference, and so to be independent of externals. Materialism, pantheism, fatalism, and pride were the leading features of this philosophy.
Easton’s Dictionary Cont’dwww.biblegateway.com :Easton’s Dictionary Cont’dwww.biblegateway.com Heart
According to the Bible, the heart is the centre not only of spiritual activity, but of all the operations of human life. "Heart" and "soul" are often used interchangeably (Deut. 6:5; 26:16; comp. Matt. 22:37; Mark 12:30, 33), but this is not generally the case.
The heart is the "home of the personal life," and hence a man is designated, according to his heart, wise (1 Kings 3:12, etc.), pure (Ps. 24:4; Matt. 5:8, etc.), upright and righteous (Gen. 20:5, 6; Ps. 11:2; 78:72), pious and good (Luke 8:15), etc. In these and such passages the word "soul" could not be substituted for "heart."
The heart is also the seat of the conscience (Rom. 2:15). It is naturally wicked (Gen. 8:21), and hence it contaminates the whole life and character (Matt. 12:34; 15:18; comp. Eccl. 8:11; Ps. 73:7). Hence the heart must be changed, regenerated (Ezek. 36:26; 11:19; Ps. 51:10-14), before a man can willingly obey God.
The process of salvation begins in the heart by the believing reception of the testimony of God, while the rejection of that testimony hardens the heart (Ps. 95:8; Prov. 28:14; 2 Chr. 36:13). "Hardness of heart evidences itself by light views of sin; partial acknowledgment and confession of it; pride and conceit; ingratitude; unconcern about the word and ordinances of God; inattention to divine providences; stifling convictions of conscience; shunning reproof; presumption, and general ignorance of divine things."

Conclusion :Conclusion According to the Scriptures here we see that pride leads to an eventual fall through folly, deceit and corruption of individuals, marriages, families and societies as human history repeatedly shows us. Humility and diligence over time lead to exaltation by God towards glory, honour and power in these same peoples. God Himself in the Second Person of the trinity Jesus describes Himself as lowly in heart and He has come to set us free from such oppression and traps. We are created for goodness- and in due time if we trust and obey Him we will experience glory, honour and power in legitimate ways by the Lord Himself who rewards the humble and debases the proud.
