Assessment – the root causes of ASB: 

Assessment – the root causes of ASB ADHD in Kyle and Jordan Cannabis smoking Excessive drinking Kyle self-harming Kyle and Jordan not in school for over a year Intergenerational violence Domestic abuse towards mum Mum out of control of family and lacking in parenting skills No house rules, boundaries or routines Large amounts of debt Significant event – father committed suicide I prison prior to SHSS involvement

Interventions: 

Interventions Work with mum around setting boundaries, rules and routines Set up behaviour contracts and all curfews with children Support worker attended debt counselling with mum and advocated on her behalf with lenders Arranged a referral for children to receive bereavement counselling Worked with whole family around respecting each others opinions – one-to-one and as a family unit Encouraged mum to spend quality time with the children as a family and with each child individually Arranged Family Therapy sessions and attended with family to support them

Interventions continued…: 

Interventions continued… Organised multi-agency meetings and formulated an action plan to get children back into school Referral to Youth services to get diversionary activities in place Advise client on noise reduction and tenancy management issues Signpost to drug and alcohol service – provide ongoing support and advice In addition…. Early morning visits to help with routines Evening visits to check the children sticking to curfews Visits to local shops to monitor ASB Accompany children to school once they were re-enrolled

What happened next!…. Mum paying off debts Children in school and attending regularly Eldest child in employment ASB and criminal activity stopped Neighbour complaints stopped Family happier, spend time together, respect each other
