PowerPoint Presentation:

Alex: Hey Hi Buddy ! I have come up with a brand new machine for making soft & creamy ice cream Iva: Wow! that is an amazing idea ! Its my mom’s B’day, Can I use your machine ? Alex : No!! let me patent it first. This is my invention; it is my intellectual property . Iva : Invention, Patent, Intellectual property? What are all these terms. Let me know. Alex : The machine which I have created, is my invention , I don’t want anybody should steal it, or copy it. So, I will protect it by obtaining a patent .

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva: And what is patent?   Iva: But What is an invention? Alex: Patent is one of the types of Intellectual property. It is the exclusive right given to the inventor over his invention, for 20 years and i n return the inventor is obliged to disclose the invention to the public there after, so that the technology can be made available to the public for free use. Alex : An invention means you come up with a new idea or thought, a new object, device or process that no one has seen or heard of before .

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva: Wow! at the age of 14? But there are so many water purifiers in the market, even I have one in my house, my dad just got it installed. By using that also we get very clean, bacteria free drinking water. Alex : Deepika’s invention is simple & cheaper, she has used the solar power to make it work. Her purifier purifies the dirty water at a much faster rate unlike other purifiers in the market. Alex :You know! my friend Deepika Kurup, has experimented with a method of treating contaminated (dirty) water using solar power and invented a water purifier at the age of 14 .

PowerPoint Presentation:

Alex: No. Its not true. Everyone can invent, It’s a kids play. In fact Kids have the most creative minds, they have the best imaginations . Iva : That’s amazing! This is something which that Scholar Sony in my school does’nt know and can’t brag about! So now I can pull her legs. Alex: Today there was an Intellectual Property awareness program by Rachana Foundation in our school . Iva : But How did you get to know about all these things? Iva : Oh! I thought only elders can invent and get patents .

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva : Oh! Now I understood Patents. If I invent and patent, the property becomes mine. Then no one can steal it, not even my US friend . Alex: Hold on my friend ! patent is effective only in the country in which we register it, suppose if we get a patent in India, then that patent will be valid or will have effect only in India. If you want to get protection for your invention in any country outside India, then you will have to apply in that particular country as well.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva: What if I use someone’s patented invention without his knowledge and permission? Alex : Then you will be infringing their rights . Alex: No. Obtaining a patent is not compulsory. However, patent registration offers exclusive legal rights over your invention, and gives better protection against misuse. if you want to protect your invention, you should patent it. Iva: Is it compulsory to patent an invention?

PowerPoint Presentation:

Alex: Ok. Let me explain you. The ice cream making machine which I have invented, I have exclusive rights over my invention . If you plan to use my machine to sell the soft creamy ice cream to others and enjoy the profits & also get praised by your mom, dad, sisters and your family, it amounts to infringement. Stealing , using or trying to make or copy someone else’s invention without their permission is infringement. Iva : Sorry! I didn’t get you? What is this infringement?

PowerPoint Presentation:

But, how can we protect an invention from the infringers? Alex: T here are courts of law established in our country where you can apply if someone infringes your right. The Patent owner can sue the wrong doer. Iva : What does the court do against that wrong doer? will they punish strictly, as our teacher punishes us if we do any mischief in class, by making us stand outside the classroom ? Iva: Oh! N ow I got it. Infringement is just like copying in examinations!

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva : Very good! But we need to spend a lot on our invention, almost entire pocket money. C an we get the money back? Alex : Don ’ t worry about pocket money. You can s ell your patented invention or licence it to others and can make such a huge amount of money, that you can even buy your own “Ferrari”. Iva: Wow! thats a great Idea! Then I will invent, make huge money and go to moon on my own spaceship like Nobitha and Doreman . Thank you Alex! . Alex : Yes! off course! The wrong doer will be punished.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Alex: That’s a superb idea Iva! Because, not only you, but the country too will progress by your invention. Iva: How can a country progress with individual inventers invention ? So, We need to gear up for no.1 position my friend! Rachana Maam , told us that we are the pillars of the nation and that, we can not afford to be the backbenchers.   Alex: It can, because in awareness program we were told that invention is intellectual wealth. Todays society is a knowledge driven society, and in knowledge driven society nations progress depends on its intellectual wealth . And you know! We have the legacy of technology from our ancestors from Ramayana and Mahabharata period. They had used the advanced technology which we are reinventing now.

PowerPoint Presentation:

Iva: Are you kidding? Ages back!! they knew the technology? Alex: Yes . Rachana Maam told us that, in Ramayana there is a reference about Pushpakavimana , which is nothing but todays Flying Machine . In Mahabharatha , Sanjay was able to see from miles away by wireless connection, and depict the live story of Battle field to Dhrutarashtra .   These age old technologies used in Indian Epics inspired Indian Inventor, Pranav Mistry from childhood and led him to invent the great “Sixth Sense” technology. So also, the Technology behind the construction of ( Ramsetu ) was depicted in Valmiki Ramayan . All these are nothing but technologies.

PowerPoint Presentation:

“ Think , Invent and patent ” Thank You Iva: Wow! Its so inspiring. Now I will seriously think of inventing and going to moon in my own Spaceship.
