“EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE” Presented by Rajesh Kumar Lecturer SWFIT CON

BASIS FOR NURSING PRACTICE :

Traditional basis Regulatory basis Philosophical basis Evidenced based nursing practice BASIS FOR NURSING PRACTICE

DEFINITION :

Evidenced based practice is the practice of nursing in which interventions are based on data from research that demonstrates that they are appropriate and successful.” DEFINITION

NURSING PRACTICE :

NURSING PRACTICE

WHY DO WE NEED EVIDENCE BASED NURSING :

For equitable distribution of health services. A rational approach to provide best available care. Patient expectation to get such type of care is rising. Individualized nursing care is being replace by evidence based care. In include all the aspect of care as old and current. WHY DO WE NEED EVIDENCE BASED NURSING

GOAL OF EVIDENCE BASED NURSING PRACTICE :

Provide practicing nurse the evidence based data to deliver effective care. Resolve problem in clinical setting. Achieve excellence in care delivery. reduces the variations in nursing care and assist with efficient ,and effective decision making. GOAL OF EVIDENCE BASED NURSING PRACTICE

ASPECTS OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

Research utilization Literature review Systematic literature review Meta- analysis Clinical Decision- making ASPECTS OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

STEPS OF DEVELOPING EVIDENCE BASED NURSING PRACTICE :

Defining clinical question ? Finding the Evidence……….. Analyzing the Evidence. +-X% Using the Evidence Evaluating the outcome. STEPS OF DEVELOPING EVIDENCE BASED NURSING PRACTICE

TRIAD OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

TRIAD OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

AREA OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

AREA OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

LEVEL OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

Level –I: Meta analysis of various research Level-II: Finding of individual study Level-III: Cohort studies ,single group pre and post test. Level-IV: Non experimental studies E.g. comparative studies. Level-V: Only literature review but not any study. Level-Vi: Opinion of other. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

FEATURES OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

It is problem-based approach. It brings together the best available evidence and current practice by combining research with tactic knowledge and theory. It facilitates the application of research findings by incorporating knowledge in to practice. It is client centered FEATURES OF EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

PROBLEM FACED DURING EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE :

Not so familiarity in developing good research strategies. Most of research studies are qualitative type Nursing faculty is not support to other faculty. we can loss holistic function of nursing that to serve sick or needed people . PROBLEM FACED DURING EVIDENCE BASED PRACTICE

Slide 16:

Involvement of human being is very complex in nature Lack of time, poor team work , Limited financial support , limited interest , shortage of professional nurse ,and Existing nursing culture

WHY DO OUR RESEARCH NOT IMPLEMENTED :

Practice nurse do not know finding of research. Do not know how to use these finding. Do not allowed to practice. Do not provide such type of research finding that can be easily adopted by other . WHY DO OUR RESEARCH NOT IMPLEMENTED
