Geography Panama is more than just a canal, it is a relatively narrow stretch of land that rose from the seas 2.4 million years ago to unite the Americas. This was probably the result of the movement of the Cocos tectonic plates underneath the Caribbean sea, as a result there are at least three (extinct) volcanoes in Panama: Volcan Baru (highest and best known), La Yeguada and El Valle. Ironically the work of nature was more or less undone (with a compromise) when Panama was split in two by the construction of the Panama Canal.

Panama: 

Panama Climate The climate of Panama is fantastic even for those used to the soul-shadowing northern temperatures. Temperatures range from 26-34 Celsius all year round which is wonderful (a bit sticky at times) for lovers of the tropics. It is hot, but not as hot as a Summer day in Rome or Madrid, but it is humid. If on the other hand you like cooler temperatures you will have to sacrifice city life and visit the highlands where it can be as cool as 15 Celsius during the day. Quite a contrast if you travel from Cerro Punta (near Volcan Baru) to David, Chiriqui We only have two seasons. The dry season we call Summer lasting from January until March and the rainy season (our Winter) the rest of the year. Currency The local currency in Panama is called the Balboa in honor of Vasco Nuñez de Balboa discoverer of the Pacific Ocean. You will find he is also featured in most of the Panamanian coins.

The Amador Causeway: 

The Amador Causeway Located just outside of Panama City and once the home of a US Army base, has quickly become one of Panama's most desirable tourist areas. The Causeway itself connects Naos, Perico, Culebra and Flamenco, with the mainland. Visited by both foreigners and locals alike, the Causeway has enormous tourist potential. The Causeway is located at the southeastern most tip of the Panama Canal, with spectacular views of Panama City and the Bridge of the Americas. While there, visitors can observe the numerous vessels that enter or depart the Panama Canal throughout the day, passing directly beneath the Bridge of the Americas.

Location of The Project -The Island The Causeway's most northern section, which is part of the mainland, is home to several restaurants, parks, convention centers and the Balboa Yacht Club, which faces the Canal and also has a pool and restaurant/bar. Heading south along the Causeway, the paved road narrows considerably, and becomes a long, single lane road in each direction; there is no place to park or stop along the Causeway itself. On both sides of the Causeway you'll find well maintained lawns, benches and ample walking space, which is used by couples, families with children, joggers, skate boarders, rollerbladers, and even a functioning horse carriage, which transports people along a portion of the Causeway. On weekends, when most locals visit, both vehicle and pedestrian traffic along the Causeway can be overwhelming.
