IUSOM - OTHERS The island of Bonaire is situated in the centre of the Caribbean, which constitutes the economic heart of Dutch Caribbean (Formerly Netherlands Antilles). Several other scientific and high tech businesses are also located in Bonaire.
IUSOM will be a unique institution which will have capability for performing quantitative analyses of the clinical, environmental and other samples on femtogram per microlitre levels (on ppq levels (1 part in 1,000,000,000,000,000)) as well as will conduct Innovative R&D type research work focusing the Proteomics and Genomics Analyses together with the Environmental and Toxicological fate and behavior of pollutants.
IUSOM shall also develop new analytical techniques for the non-destructive quality control of the biological samples.

IUSOM - OTHERS Bonaire IslandBonaire is the eastern-most Caribbean island in the 'ABC' island chain, made up of Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao. Located in the Dutch Caribbean (Formerly Netherlands Antilles), often called the Dutch Caribbean, Bonaire is a mere 50 miles north of Venezuela, 30 miles east of Curacao and 86 miles east of Aruba. Bonaire covers 112 square miles, is 24 miles long and 7 miles across at its widest point. A small uninhabited island called Klein Bonaire (Little Bonaire) lies close to the western shore near the island's capitol Kralendijk.

IUSOM - OTHERS Bonaire Island's rich history dates back to 1499 when it was discovered by the Spanish. Long ago, the native population of the island was the Arawak Indians. The Arawak Indian word for "Low Lands" was "Bojnay," which was adapted to the word, Bonaire. Much of the rich culture and diverse history of Bonaire can still be found in many of the island's landmarks, architecture and native population.
On October 10, 2010, Formerly Netherlands Antilles ceased to exist; and consequently Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba (BES) Islands collectively were integrated more closely to the Kingdom of The Netherlands in European Union (EU).
The official language of Bonaire is Dutch but nearly everyone speaks English. The native language is unique and called Papiamentu, a mix of many different languages and spoken throughout the ABC islands.

IUSOM - OTHERS Work Permits for Foreign Students on Student Visa in BonaireAfter dissolution of Formerly Netherlands Antilles on October 10, 2010, three islands, namely, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba (BES) Islands were collectively integrated more closely to the Kingdom of The Netherlands in European Union (EU). Consequently, the Government of The Netherlands in Den Haag, The Netherlands now permits the M.D. and/or PreMed Foreign Students (on Student Visa) enrolled and attending the International University School of Medicine (IUSOM), to apply for the Work Permit to work in Bonaire Island, to partially finance their costs for international medical education at IUSOM.
