Question 2 What is your gender ? 14 of my sample of 20 target audience members are male, 6 are female. This means that due to the majority of my target audience being male, I will be designing my magazine with metallic, saturated colours. These results may be skewed due to the platform I used to gain my sample, I may simply know more males than females.

Question 2 What is your age? My largest age range was 18-24 with 40% of the votes, the next 40% was taken up by 25-44 year olds. Based on my results, I will be targeting my magazine at young adults and adults. This means my magazine should stay mature, however, have elements that draw the youthful side of my target audience into the magazine.

The majority of my target audience listens to the genre of music between 2 to 4 hours each day, with 11 people in this category. My results do not surprise me as I expect people to listen to music on the way to and from work, as well as at home when on the PC or in their spare time, this collectively should average to around this time frame Question 3 How many hours do you listen to Alternative / Indie Rock each day?

Nearly all of my target audience(19) listen to music via streaming sites such as Spotify . This does not surprise me as these sites take up a majority of the market and are therefore used by man people. I will incorporate some features such as free premium competitions into my magazine design to entice the audience. Question 4 What Service(s) do you use to regularly listen to music?

Only 4 people from my sample have never attended a concert, I suspect this to be the lower aged group due to their smaller funds. Based on my results, I will incorporate concerts into my magazine in order to entice the remaining 80% of my target audience. The most popular category is 3-5 concerts, this was expected. Most of my target audience is not subscribed to a magazine, with 14 in this category. This is good for me because it allows me to entice my audience in to trying a new thing in a subscription. However, this may be bad as it means my target audience is not willing to subscribe to magazines. Question 6 Are you currently subscribed to a magazine?

16 of my target audience recognises a gap in the market for my magazine, this is promising because it shows that people are willing to buy my magazine if they think it beats the competition. These results could be unreliable however because they may not be willing to pay money for it but still say they will. There were many useful and surprising features suggested that I would be able to implement into my magazine, such as a competition to win an instrument. I will therefore take these ideas and ensure that I make them a part of my magazine in order to entice my target audience. Question 8 What features would you expect from a music magazine?

Conclusion:

Conclusion By creating this survey and analysing my results, I have gathered an understanding of certain habits of my target audience such as subscriptions and concerts. I will be able to use my results when planning my magazine, such as including certain features that I can utilise.
