What is Asia-Invest II? Opportunities for EU-Asia business co-operation: EC’s primary initiative to support business co-operation between the EU and Asia and to strengthen mutual trade and investment flows, support new business partnerships and reinforce the business environment across both regions Asia-Invest I began in 1997 with a Commission contribution of €32m; Asia-Invest II (2003 to 2007) aims to build upon success of first phase with a further Commission contribution of €35m More than 260 projects supported to date across a range of sectors, involving hundreds of organisations

Eligible business organisations representing SMEs: chambers of commerce, government agencies, sector-specific trade, industrial and professional associations, employers’ federations and local agencies, administrations promoting or facilitating trade and investment, regulators, and non-governmental organisations In partnership: minimum of 2 European organisations (from different Member States) and 1 Asian organisation Projects ultimately benefit companies, the wider business community and the EU-Asia business network

Conditions EC co-financing from 50-75% Grants between €80.000 - €400.000 Maximum of 36 months Up to 95% co-financing for projects targeting LDCs: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Cambodia, East Timor, Laos, Maldives and Nepal; and up to 80% for Indonesia and Pakistan Up to 100% financing for tsunami-affected areas for the second deadline: Maldives, Indonesia (Aceh and North Sumatra), Sri Lanka (all coastal districts except Myanmar), Thailand (Ranong, Phangnga, Phuket, Krabi, Trang, Satun) and India (coastal areas of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala states; Andaman and Nicobar islands)
