We are commanded to 'speak the truth in love' to one another so that: our faith will grow to maturity we will become more Christ-like and for the sake of the Body of Christ

Speaking the Truth in Love is not something that is an optional activity, rather it is a part of the way that we will become Christ-like. We who are a part of the Body of Christ can expect people to speak truth to us. We cannot act surprised or offended because it is a part of our growing to be like Christ.

Truth is love and love is truth Drop one and you lose both Would Jesus have us show truth to people without love? Would Jesus have us love people without showing them truth? We need to balance out love and truth in our lives the way Jesus did.
