Erciyes university, with its approximately 30.000 students 1641 academic staff 28 visiting scholars 1451 administrative personnel and stakeholders (Alumni Association, Civil Society Groups, European University Association…) has a mission of producing sustainable high value outcome through Bologna Process.

Internationalization Process: Erciyes University International Office (IO) aims at taking the basic actions needed for the accomplishment of Erciyes University (EU)’s internationalization process, providing guidance to strengthen EU’s competitiveness in the higher education area through its potential advantages and disadvantages ahead.

With reference to its aims, the IO coordinates EU activities regarding European Education and Youth Program (Socrates, Leonardo da Vinci and Youth), FP6 and AEGEE holds regular informative meetings and conferences about those activities for faculty, students administrative staff and stakeholders of EU,

participates in meetings and conferences held by National Agency under the European Educational and Youth Program, participates in conferences held by European University Association (EUA), announces news about EUA’s objectives and strategies to EU units, organizes national and international visits, which are part of EU’s internationalization process, to EU, participates in international education fairs to introduce EU’s current education programs and EU’s mission and vision to participants.

For many years and especially most recently, EU-IO hosted many considerable visits of representatives of EUA, ambassadors, scholars, students, members of civil societies and businessmen from USA, France, Spain, Germany, UK, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Malta, China, Japan and other European and Asian Countries and participated in several international education fairs and conferences held in Holland, Germany, UK, Ankara, Istanbul and Kayseri.

Among IO activities, as for the European Education and Youth Programs and AEGEE, as summary;

Upon IO-Erasmus (SM, TSM, OM) applications, starting from 2005-2006 2 students will take courses from Universit at Erlangen (Germany), Economy Department for 6 months. 1 academic staff will teach at Universit at Erlangen (Germany), Economy Department for 1 week. 1 academic staff will teach at Universita di Venezia (Italy), Education Department for 12 weeks. 8 academic staff will teach at University of Oulu (Finland), Faculty of Dentistry for 20 weeks 1 student from Ruhr University in Germany will take Islamic Sciences’ courses at EU, Faculty of Theology for two semesters. And it is expected that the partner universities will send 2 students and 10 academic staff to EU

IO-Leonardo da Vinci Coordinatorship held several informative meetings/conferences for EU faculty, students and EU stakeholders (i.e. Businessmen, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Commerce of City of Kayseri) about vocational education, industrial employment and European Employment programs through the years of 2004-2005, was an active participant for informative meetings and conferences held by National Agency, in terms of 2005, provided EU with 375.000 Euros with its 7 vocational education/European employment projects accepted and funded by European Commission (EC).

IO-Youth Group participated in several informative meetings on Actions 1, 2 and 5 held by National Agency, organized several meetings of Youth Program for EU Community and its stakeholders, run a project named ‘The View of Youth from the Theater’s Window’, together with the project partners of Italy, Latvia and Malta, which was held on May 19-25, 2005, and August 15-20, 2005 at Erciyes University, became a partner of the project called ‘Carpe Diferentium’ being held in Italy on July 20-31, 2005, initiated the project of The City and Monument together with EU Architectural Club, which was accepted and funded by EC. The project was run between August 24-September 2, 2005 by hosting international partners of Latvia and Poland at Gehver Nesibe Medrese in Kayseri,

invited three European students from Italy, Latvia and Poland to serve at EU, through European Voluntary Service (EVS) which is a part of the European Education and Youth Program, for the dates of 15th October 2005-15th June 2006. The invitation was approved and funded by EC. Hence, IO-Youth has provided EU with approximately more than 60.000 Euros in terms of 2005 through their projects funded by EC.

IO-AEGEE Group held Winter University Activity IV (Skiing at the magnificent Erciyes Mountain) on March 7-14, 2005, participated in meeting in Holland as an AGEEE-Europe delegate on May 1-5, 2005, sent an AEGEE member for an EUA conference held in Glasgow/UK to accompany with The Head of Higher Education Counsel of Turkey and The Minister of Education of Turkey as a representative student from Turkey on May, 2005, upon invitation of AEGEE-Europe Center, has charged an AEGEE member to serve as an computer expert in Brussels for six months, starting from August 2005 till January 2006.
