Almost five million people visit the Grand Canyon every year. This mile deep canyon is separated into two distinct points of view: The south rim , which is responsible for 90% of all tourism, and has an average elevation of 7000 feet. The north rim , which is in a much more remote area, and can only be reached by a 21 mile hike through the canyon or a 220 mile drive around the canyon.
