Overview We are one of the original and still very active Product Groups We actively contribute and participate in the development of U.S.A. and international standards for eye & face protection design, selection, maintenance, and use. We represent ISEA members perspective to regulatory agencies, industry, general public and others on key initiatives involving eye & face protection.

Z87 Standard: 

Z87 Standard Z87.1 is changing from a product based standard to a hazard based standard The Z87.1 Committee is presently revising the existing 2003 standard with a goal of issue of August 2008

OSHA Proposed Rulemaking: 

OSHA Proposed Rulemaking OSHA proposes to eliminate reference to specific ANSI Standards (Z87.1 & Z89.1) within the regulation and replace with "good design standards" located in an appendix

OSHA Proposed Rulemaking ISEA and member companies have submitted comments to OSHA OSHA Hearing on December 4, 2007 will be attended and testimony given by ISEA and many of the Group members.

Proposed Bio-Eyewear Standard Develop eye & face safety standard for biological exposures Bio-Eyewear not now covered by ANSI Z87.1 yet many believe it is Very different hazards and worker needs verses industrial safety eyewear OSHA’s BBP guidelines are outdated Continual new threats like SARS & avian flu L. Jackson of NIOSH will assist via outline or whitepaper.

Eye & Face Protection, Selection and Use Guide A new Z87.1 Standard will require a revised ISEA guide Work will start as soon as a final draft of Z87.1 has been approved

Summary ISEA Eye & Face Protection Product Group has always been and continues to be a very active product group. We will actively participate in standards development and providing expertise to agencies and others who are involved with design and use of eye and face protection PPE.
