Slide 2:

1600’s Englishmen Robert Hooke used an early compound microscope to look at a think cork. He saw thousands of little chambers called cells.

Slide 3:

German botanist Matthias Schledian concluded that all parts where made of cells.

Slide 4:

A year after Mathias Jacob Schleiden , a colleague Schwann knew well, advanced the cell theory for plants, Schwann extended it to animals.

Slide 5:

Virchow was the first to demonstrate that the cell theory applies to diseased tissue as well as to healthy tissue-that is, that diseased cells derive from the healthy cells of normal tissue.
