8th form project “You are what you eat.”     :

8 th form project “You are what you eat.” Teacher: Kobzeva Olesya Olegovna Students: Form 8A School: Tambov Lyceum 6

“You are what you eat.”:

“You are what you eat.” What is our project about? About you ? About how you eat ? About what you eat ? Oh! It’s about English speaking countries’ national cuisines and national characters!

“You are what you eat.”:

“You are what you eat.” Read these quotations and decide: Which ones you agree with Which ones you disagree with Which ones you don’t understand. Explain why. Tomatoes and oregano make it Italian; wine and tarragon make it French. Sour cream makes it Russian; lemon and cinnamon make it Greek. Soy sauce makes it Chinese; garlic makes it good. Alice May Brock Tell me what you eat, and I will tell you what you are. Anthelme Brillat-Savarin (1755 - 1826), The Physiology of Taste, 1825 If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. J. R. R. Tolkien (1892 - 1973) Bear in mind that you should conduct yourself in life as at a feast. Epictetus (55 AD - 135 AD) It's amazing how pervasive food is. Every second commercial is for food. Every second TV episode takes place around a meal. In the city, you can't go ten feet without seeing or smelling a restaurant. There are 20 foot high hamburgers up on billboards. I am acutely aware of food, and its omnipresence is astounding. Adam Scott, The Monkey Chow Diaries, June 2006
