USA Exiles Rugby, Inc. www.marylandrugby.org Who we are – A non-profit foundation that supports competitive athletic teams at many levels : Who we are – A non-profit foundation that supports competitive athletic teams at many levels Maryland Exiles Rugby Club – Adult players based in Washington, D.C. and Maryland suburbs (100 active player, 300 alumni); Maryland Stingers – Sister team to the Exiles (75 players); University of Maryland Terrapins – Students at UMD. College Park, MD (100 players); Exile U-19s/ St.John’s College High School/ DeMatha Catholic/Gonzaga High School/Landon School for Boys – We coach more than 600 high school players in Montgomery County Maryland and Washington, D.C. each spring. Exile U-14s – 7th and 8th grade players; Exile U-9s – program launched 2001. Exiles Rugby Inc. Achievements: Exiles Rugby Inc. Achievements Mentored more than 5,000 Washington area college students, high schoolers and youth since 1972; Provided Washington area adults and youth with a competitive athletic outlet in one of the world’s most popular sports. Rugby : Rugby Rugby is the fastest growing club sport on U.S. college campuses; It’s the fastest growing women’s sport in America 85 percent of players have college degrees and a medium income of $65,000 * * Dallas Sports Council, 1996 Coaching Youth…: Coaching Youth… Rugby Across the Globe: Rugby Across the Globe 69 Countries play Rugby The U.S. National team draws its players directly from programs such as ours. Seven-a-side rugby is slated to be a part of the 2012 Olympics. Rugby in the Headlines: Rugby in the Headlines Success On the Field…: Success On the Field… 2001- 2005 National Seven-a-side Championships #1 ranked team in the Mid-Atlantic Union (Raleigh, NC to Philadelphia, PA) in 2001 - 2005 We compete year-round primarily in the eastern United states but also nationwide and globally. Contributed more than a dozen league all-stars in last 4 years, plus 12 players for the U.S. National Squad ('The Eagles') over the last decade. Semi-professional: Players aren’t paid and nearly all travel is self-funded.
