Emergence of campus cell plans but with a series of issues that must be considered by the institution: Coverage Campus cell towers In building - typically requires antenna systems that are costly and generate no direct revenue 911 – Potential Risk, Public Safety concerns Cost issue for students who already have a phone Typical Campus plan yields only 25 – 45 % participation Only small revenue stream

Next Generation Customer Expectations Very multitask oriented, they embody the real essence of multitasking Phone was never the communication channel of choice IM is their critical tool, in fact their communication strategy of choice Discussion with friends & family Establishing dates and meetings Sharing all forms of content Text messaging especially SMS – Short Message Service

Internet access must be “Everywhere” Residence Hall phones will be limited to emergency calling only A return to the single hall or wing phone Cell phones will primarily be used for SMS not calls Except to parents Even the need for local calls such as to the pizza shop will disappear Will order on-line
