Slide 2:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 1 STEP 1 : Remove all cartridges from the side being worked on (noting the colour positions of each cartridge). Note: it is easier to remove the left hand side of this model (Epson Stylus Pro 9800 / 7800). REMEMBER TO SWITCH OFF MACHINE AT MAINS BEFORE STARTING

Slide 3:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 2 STEP 2 : Remove all screws that secure the plastic cover starting with the one on the paper set lever.

Slide 4:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 3 STEP 2 : Remove screws at rear of cover.

Slide 5:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 4 STEP 2 : Remove screw below print head.

Slide 6:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 5 STEP 2 : Remove screw on cartridge locking lever handle.

Slide 7:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 6 STEP 2 : Remove screws securing the draw which holds the four ink cartridges.

Slide 8:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 7 STEP 2 : Remove screw securing the draw cover which holds the four ink cartridges.

Slide 9:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 8 STEP 2 : Remove hidden screw under cap (right side and rear of printer).

Slide 10:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 9 STEP 2 : Remove screws below paper roll spindle.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 10 STEP 2 : Remove screws above paper roll spindle.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 11 STEP 3 : Remove cartridge housing assembly.

Slide 13:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 12 STEP 4 : Remove control panel. Warning: this is a delicate job, the tabs holding the panel should be eased out of position by reaching inside the cover prior to its removal, do not force off with metal blade.

Slide 14:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 13 STEP 4 : Detach ribbon connector at the rear of the control panel.

Slide 15:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 14 STEP 5 : Remove cover from right hand side of the Epson 9800. Unlock print head and slide it into the middle of the machine (depress blue tab on cutter mechanism to release print carriage).

Slide 16:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 15 STEP 6 : Release the two retaining clips shown.

Slide 17:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 16 STEP 7 : Disconnect the pump motor.

Slide 18:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 17 STEP 8 : Disconnect pump phase sensor and remove sensor wire from plastic clip.

Slide 19:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 18 STEP 9 : Remove the two screws securing the box assembly unit.

Slide 20:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 19 STEP 10 : Remove the two screws securing the rear of the box assembly unit. Support unit before removing last screw as it will drop out of position.

Slide 21:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 20 STEP 11 : Remove box assembly unit.

Slide 22:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 21 STEP 12 : Remove screws holding the box assembly flushing unit.

Slide 23:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 22 STEP 12 : Note the position of the flushing pipe into the maintenance tank.

Slide 24:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 23 STEP 13 : Attach new waste pipe to new flushing unit. This pipe is a tight fit, it should be eased into position about 10mm on the black plastic stem. PLEASE NOTE: THE SHORTER OF THE TWO PIPES IN THE MAINTENANCE KIT IS USED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE MACHINE, THE LONGER PIPE IS USED ON THE LEFT SIDE AS ITS PATH TO THE MAINTANANCE TANK IS MORE CONVOLUTED. BE SURE TO USE THE CORRECT FLUSHING UNIT FOR THE RIGHT SIDE.

Slide 25:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 24 STEP 14 : Position and attach new flushing unit.

Slide 26:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 25 STEP 15 : Return flushing pipe end to maintenance tank entry point, making sure it is securely positioned. Incorrect positioning will cause ink spillage on the internal case and components.

Slide 27:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 26 STEP 16 : New box unit will ship with a plastic white cover on the pump cap assembly and a separately packed wiper blade. Fit new wiper blade into slot but leave cover on assembly until fully re-assembled. REMEMBER TO REMOVE WHITE COVER BEFORE REPLACING THE COVER ON THE RIGHT HAND SIDE

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 27 STEP 16 : Secure wiper blade to plastic tags inside box assembly unit.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 28 STEP 17 : Re-attach pump phase sensor wire.

Slide 30:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 29 STEP 18 : Secure pump cap assembly unit back into position.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 30 STEP 19 : Secure pump phase sensor wire on the rear of the box assembly unit.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 31 STEP 20 : Note position of all drainage pipes before replacing the cover of the printer.

Slide 33:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 32 STEP 21 : Return cover to printer and replace the control panel (repeat steps 1-4 at the start of this presentation). Warning: Remove the white plastic pump cap before replacing cover.

Please Note You will be pleased to know that the 9800 Stylus Pro Printer comes with two maintenance tanks and two flushing kits, so its double the fun replacing this part on both sides of the machine. The following slides show this procedure. It should be noted the left-side of the 9800 is considerably less complicated that the right-side and that the steps taken to change the flushing unit are virtually the same as already outlined. Many of the components, fixtures and fittings in the left are mirror image parts of those seen on the right.

Slide 35:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 33 STEP 22 : Remove all screws securing the left hand side of the 9800 printer (see steps 1-4).

Slide 36:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 34 STEP 23 : Remove left hand case of the 9800 printer.

Slide 37:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 35 STEP 24 : Note the flushing unit pipe at the back twisting downward toward the left-side maintenance tank.

Slide 38:

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 37 STEP 25 : Remove and replace left flushing unit.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 38 STEP 26 : Attach new flushing pipe to flushing unit.

INSTALLATION OF MAINTENANCE KIT SLIDE 39 STEP 27 : Carefully re-thread the flushing pipe back into maintenance tank and re-attach the flushing unit. Replace the left side cover following steps (1-4) at the start of this presentation.
