Objectives:
Research how to implement advanced content management technologies including: sequencing, learner profiles, learning styles, and intelligent tutoring.
Research and/or develop standards which will enable a selected LMS the ability to report all relevant student usage and performance statistics, and that will enable tie-ins to existing personnel and records systems.
Research training integration issues and standards.
Research, test and recommend solutions to specific repository related standards and integration issues.
Research possible tools which allow sharing of information between various sections of the JKDDC profile tool.
Research future small group training products and solutions.
FY07 Advanced Concepts Goals & Objectives : FY07 Advanced Concepts Goals & Objectives
Gaming
Goal:
Define, research and recommend the “best practices”, methodologies and technologies for incorporating game-based learning and technologies in support of JKDDC’s goals and vision.
Objectives:
Discover, catalog and leverage existing work in the gaming and simulation area as potential capabilities to include in the JKDDC portal.
Determine a small number of instructional gaps which may be filled with short, interactive game or game-like experiences (lightweight simulations).
Determine solutions of the technical requirements necessary for those existing gaming resources to be both SSO capable and delivered via the JKDDC portal.
Determine solutions for the ability to embed or attach learning objectives to the game, and for the game to report a definable metric related to the accomplishment by individual players of specific learning objectives.
Research and begin to establish an advanced gaming design that supports interoperability and reusability.
Research the standards which can promulgate the required reuse of gaming objects.
Research the standards for packaging of these gaming objects.
Research a cross-platform Designer Graphical User Interface (GUI) to make lightweight simulations creation possible for the range of beginners, intermediate and expert users.
Research the capability for non-programmers to build their own flexible assessment templates (metrics, pass/fail criteria, etc) using standards based XML as the common link to the JKDDC profile environment. These need to be easily applied to various lightweight simulations contained in the JKDDC Repository.
