Why an edu-Person object class?: 

Why an edu-Person object class? The problem: No established patterns for building general-purpose institutional directories Each institution has to start from scratch No two higher education directories look alike We can’t share resources, we can’t query or exchange information even though Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) is THE relevant standard

Why an edu-Person object class?: 

Why an edu-Person object class? edu-Person object class would provide a common list of attributes and definitions Draw on the standards work in higher education Select those items that are of broad utility Define a common LDAP representation for each of them
