Fungi are microscopic ( Rhizopus) Macroscopic (Mushroom) Unicellular (Yeast) and MulticellularSlide 7: Experiment : To study about Rhizopus and Mushroom Materials: microscope , needle, glass slide, forceps, Cover slip, filter paper, moist bread in a covered Petri dish. Procedure: Uncovered the moist bread in a petri dish and note down white, thin threads, and white or black dot like structures. Put a drop of water on a clean glass slide. With the help of forceps, transfer some of the materials into a drop of water on a slide.Continue: Continue Take needles and spread the materials onto slide. Cover it with cover slip. Observe it under low and high power of microscope. Compare it with the prepared slides.Observations.: Observations. Mycelium of Rhizopus consists of non septate tubular hyphae, there are three types of hyphae. STOLONS: These are the hyphae which spread along the surface of the substrate on which fungus grow. RHIZOIDS: These hyphae penetrate the substrate .It breaks down the food into simpler material with the help of enzyme. SPORANGIOPHORE: Spore bearing hyphae is called sporangiophore.Study of Mushrooms (Agaricus): Study of Mushrooms (Agaricus) Introduction. Mushrooms grow in damp places on decaying organic matter. They are common during raining season. They are dark and water loving. The umbrella like part is fruiting body. Mycelium is the vegetative part, it grows in soil rich in organic content and produces large Fruiting Body.Materials: Hand lens or magnifying glass. fresh/preserved mushroom and moldel. : Materials: Hand lens or magnifying glass. fresh/preserved mushroom and moldel . Procedure: Examine the fresh or preserved specimen / model. Note down structure of Mushroom Using magnifying lens.Observations:: Observations: The body of the mushroom is divided in to two parts. It consists of colorless hyphae spread in soil. Reproductive part Stalk or stipe PileusSlide 13: Student’s Comments Rida Naveed , “ I think it’s a good experience For me. I gained so much information from This project which will help me in future.” Shumaila , “ No doubt, this is a great Achievement and it’s a good experience For me.
