Introduction:- Geography has a longer genealogy than any other science . The Greeks were pioneers in many branches of knowledge. Their period is known as the “ Gld Age of Greece “. They borrowed many of the concept of astronomy, geometry and mathematics from the Egytain, Chaldaea and Assyria. The location of Greece situated on both sides of the Aegean sea was conducive to geographical study. The Greek were many Geographers born that period . Such like Homer Hipparchus Anaximander Alexander, Thales Hecatiuse, Herodotus etc.

HOMER:- Homer was very well-known greatest Greek poet. His works was published in the form of Illiad and Odyssey. These long epics poems describe the episodes of Tronjan war (1280-1180) and contain valuable information about historical geography of the then known world. He believed the Earth to be a place of circular form surrounded on all sides by the ocean river.

Homer describe the four wind coming from the four different direction . 1) Bores :- N. Wind , Strong & cool with clear skies 2) Eurus :- East Wind, warm and gentle 3) Notus :- South Wind, on the front of an advancing storm, wet & sometimes violent. 4) Zephyrus :- West Wind , dreaded balmy with gale force.

HIPPARCHUS :- He was Greek astronomer and Mathematician. He Born at Nicaea in Bithynia Who discovered the procession of the equinoxes, calculated the length of the year to within six and half minutes. He compiled the first known star catalogue and made an early formation of trigonometry.(129BC) and his catalogue listed about 850 stars. The death of Eratosthenes he appointed as the librarian of Alexandra. In his work , he stressed the importance of parallel of latitudes and meridians of longitudes.

He was the first to divided the circle into 360degree, based on Asseian arithmatics. The equator , he pointed out was a great circle and the meridians that were drawn converging on the other hand became shorter as they approached the poles. He divided two kinds of projection:- 1) stereographic 2) Orthographer :
