JICE is: : JICE is: An authorized public organization under jurisdiction of the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Approved as a non-profit organization in 1977. Support the implementation of international cooperation program of the Japanese government.

2. OUTLINE OF JENESYS PROGRAMME : 2. OUTLINE OF JENESYS PROGRAMME


Background : Background Initiative of Mr. Shinzo Abe, Prime Minister of Japan Announced at the 2nd East Asia Summit (EAS), 15th January 2007 Japan would provide financial assistance amounting to approximately USD 315 million for the East Asia Youth Exchange, inviting approximately 6,000 youths/year for 5 years.


Objective : Objective To form the basis of future vision and construct firm solidarity among Asian countries through JENESYS programme, which will promote mutual understanding of the future generation of ASEAN and East Asia Summit member countries.


Programme Outline : Programme Outline Invite youths (high-school/university students) from EAS member countries (ASEAN, Australia, China, India, New Zealand, Republic of Korea) to Japan. Approximately 6,000 youths/year, for 5 years. 3 components Invitation of overseas students to Japan Dispatch of Japanese students abroad Youth interaction (Youth Network, The Ships for South East Asian Youth Programme etc)

Short Term Invitation Programme (JICE) : Short Term Invitation Programme (JICE) Duration: approximately 10 days Study tours: visit institutions and cities to observe and experience political/economic systems, society and cultural aspects of Japan. Interaction: home-stay, camping, school visit, debates, seminars etc.
