1.Dehradun-
Dehradun is one of the beautiful and popular city of uttarakhand and it is the capital of

Mahabharata. The area of Rishikesh is mentioned in the Skanda Purana as having
been given to rishis sages by Lord Vishnu after killing the asuras Madhu-Kaitabha and
their companions who tormented the rishis. Ancient temples statues and archaeological
remains have been found at the sites in and around the area that are mentioned in the

Uttarakhand. Located in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India it is known as

approximately 25 km 16 mi north of the city Haridwar and 43 km 27 mi southeast of
the state capital Dehradun. According to Census of India 2011 Rishikesh had a

minister Mahesh Sharma announced that Rishikesh and Haridwar will be the first in
India to be given the title of “twin national heritage cities”.6 Due to the religious
significance of the place non-vegetarian food and alcohol are strictly prohibited in
Rishikesh.7 The city hosts the annual International Yoga Festival on the first week of
March since 1989.89
5. Haridwar

August to October 6. Jim Corbett National Park Jim Corbett National Park which is a
part of the larger Corbett Tiger Reserve a Project Tiger Reserve lies in the Nainital
district of Uttarakhand. Go on a jungle safari and spot the exotic animals. Let’s say
bird watching is what you like then plan a trip in winters and if you want to spot
the animals then summer is the best time though it will be hot there.
The magical landscape of Corbett is well known and fabled for its tiger richness.
Established in the year 1936 as Hailey National Park Corbett has the glory of being
India‟s oldest and most prestigious National Park. It is also being honored as the place
where Project Tiger was first launched in 1973. This unique tiger territory is best known
as the father who gave birth of the Project Tiger in India to protect the most endangered
species and the Royal of India called Tigers.
7. Ranikhet
Ranikhet meaning Queen‟s farm is a hill station developed by the Britishers around
ancient temples undulating Himalayan hills and forests.

8. Auli
Auli is a ski destination in Chamoli district in the Himalayan mountains of Uttarakhand
India. Auli also known as Auli Bugyal in Garhwali which means “meadow” is located
at an elevation of 2500 metres 8200 ft to 3050 metres 10010 ft above sea level.
After the creation of the state of Uttarakhand formerly part of Uttar Pradesh Auli was
marketed as a tourist destination. Auli lies on the way to the Hindu pilgrimage
destination of Badrinath. It is surrounded by coniferous and oak forests with a
panoramic view of the peaks of the Himalayas. The slopes are intended for both
professional skiers and novices. The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam Limited GMVNL a
state govt agency which takes care of this resort and Uttarakhand Tourism Department
conduct winter sports competitions at Auli to encourage skiing in India. It has a 4
kilometres 2.5 mi cable car a chairlift and a ski lift along with a maintained trek route.
There is a training facility of Indo-Tibetan Border Police. A small Hindu temple
connected with the Hindu epic the Ramayana is also present. GMVN conducts a 7 days
and 14 days skiing course at Auli and special provisions for day tourists are also
available. The conditions for skiing are perfect at Auli. A 500mts long ski-lift and an 800
m long chair-lift links the upper and lower slopes.The Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam
Limited takes care of this resort and they have imported snow beater to maintain slopes.
Walking through the misty slope provides one with the imposing spectacles of some of
the lofty mountain ranges like Nanda Devi Mana Paravat and Kamat.

for its lovely shrines temples and charming Garhwali traditions. Chamoli is also
the town known to spark the famous ‘Chipko’ movement.
Chamoli is a blessed place where the beauty of nature combined with fascinating
culture is found in profusion. Apart from being dotted with temples all across the village
this beautiful place is also renowned as the birth place of Chipko Movement. Enriched
with flora and fauna this village offers mesmerizing panoramic vistas that will take your
