Scenario of Computational Pathway Elicitation for Year 2 : Scenario of Computational Pathway Elicitation for Year 2 Yolanda Gil USC/Information Sciences Institute gil@isi.edu

Year 2 Scenario Proposal : Year 2 Scenario Proposal Simple scenario illustrates an interface to allow users to define computational pathways Behind the scenes, DOCKER uses descriptions of components and their constraints (developed in Year 1) to: detect errors in user’s input suggest additional steps needed to make the pathway work make educated guesses about how components selected by the user may be connected to one another

End Result: An Executable Computational Pathway : End Result: An Executable Computational Pathway Fault-type Magnitude Lat/long Span Site’s address Prob SA exceeds 6.5? User is Done Defining Pathway, System is Aware of Additional Requirements : User is Done Defining Pathway, System is Aware of Additional Requirements System knows to setup a loop to iterate IMR over Eqks in EFM (by setting up a 'set reformulation') System knows to ask for a span (needed to setup EFM Step) that the user did not mention System generates details required to run on the Grid

New Capabilities : New Capabilities System uses descriptions of components and their constraints (available in DOCKER) to: detect errors in user’s input suggest additional steps needed to make the pathway work make educated guesses about how components may be connected possibly generate Grid execution script
