Getting Started : 

Getting Started 1. To start using Microsoft Word Click on the START button. 2. Click on Programs Click on Microsoft Word Opening Microsoft Word

Using Toolbars in Word: 

Using Toolbars in Word In Word there are a number of toolbars you can use Right click on an empty spot in the grey area of any toolbar you will get a list of toolbars like this. When you want to activate a toolbar you simply make sure it is checked. ✔ Check the Toolbars indicated in the grey list shown at the right.

Setting up your Page: 

Setting up your Page Click File Click Page Setup This box will appear Set margins at 1” Choose Portrait (page orientation)

Formatting Text: 

Formatting Text 1. Set the formatting toolbar to the settings below Font Size Bold Underline Center Justify Red 2. Type “Microsoft Word Poster”

Word Art: 

Word Art Click on the Blue “A” Double-click on this square Click OK 4. In this box type “This is Word Art” 5. Click OK

Word Art continued: 

Word Art continued 1. If this happens…2. click on the dog…3. click in Front of text 4. The Word Art now has these dots around it and you can drag it anywhere

Inserting Text Boxes: 

Inserting Text Boxes Drawing Toolbar Click on Text box icon Place your cursor on your document and drag it across page. Type “Making Posters is a lot of fun” in box and size the box by dragging the corners in or out

Inserting Graphics: 

Inserting Graphics Click on Insert Click on Picture Click on Clipart

Inserting Graphics continued After you click Clipart a selection of Clipart Categories will appear. Click on the category you prefer. Double click on the clipart image you want to insert The image will now be on your page

Page Borders: 

Page Borders Click Format Click Borders and Shading Select the Page Border Tab Click the arrow on the right of the “Art” box Select border 6. Click OK

Copy/Paste: 

Select the clipart you just placed by left clicking it once with the mouse. Click Edit Copy or Click in the toolbar or Right click and Copy Place the flashing cursor in the place you want the copied clipart to go Click Edit Paste or Click in the toolbar or Right click and Paste Copy/Paste To copy an image, text, a text box or an object follow this procedure: Copy Paste

Layering: 

Layering From the Draw menu click on the oval Drag your cursor across the top of the two graphics to draw an oval shape over the top of them 3. Rt. Click on the oval 4. Click on Order 5. Click on Send to Back 6. The circle will go behind the cliparts

Tables: 

Tables Place your cursor on your page where you want the Table To insert a table click on Table in the top menu. Click on Insert Click on Table 5. When this box appears select the number of columns and rows you want in your table. 6. If you want to select a template with borders and shading all done for you click the Autoformat button. 7. Click OK

Save File: 

Save File The first time you save a file: Click File Click Save As Click on the down arrow to the right of My Documents 4. Choose the location to save your file: 31/2 Floppy (A:) CD-RW (Drive D:) Local Disk (C:) 5. Click on Local Disk(C:) 6. Type the File Name you want for your poster 7. Click OK Example:
