Companies & societies create indexes; libraries buy/lease them Many indexes from which to choose U of M Library may OR may not have articles listed in indexes Indexes are often called “databases” in library jargon Why Use Indexes?: Why Use Indexes? They filter the literature to bring only articles from authoritative and subject relevant sources to your attention Indexes specialize in one or more subject disciplines Eg.
