From 2007 through 2010, secondary school enrollment overall has continued to trend downward, with a decline of approximately 4,200 students over that four-year period. Since elementary school enrollment continues to decline, secondary enrollment is not projected to rebound. Several of the high schools are currently experiencing both enrollment declines and resultant financial challenges. Overall, The Archdiocesan Board of Education has approved a right-sizing plan for the secondary schools, which includes closing four high schools. The Commission supports that plan. Monsignor Bonner / Archbishop Prendergast Current Enrollment: 939 students (31.3% of Capacity) Enrollment has declined for 11 consecutive years, decreasing by 865 students or 52%. Enrollment is projected to decline further due to enrollment declines in feeder elementary schools. With plant costs of over $900,000 per year, Bonner-Prendergast buildings are the most expensive to operate.PowerPoint Presentation: We Don’t Want Empty Halls or An Empty ChapelPowerPoint Presentation: Peaceful Protest Alumni Came Out In support of their beloved school….
